That is a really cool concept. The note that says rat holding chocolate chip cookie cracked me up. This will make a really neat scene.

Nice job Steinie. Has a nice eerie look to it. I plan on joining this contest soon. I already have a decent sketch of what I want it to look like.

it is really following your original sketch nicely. That is a sign of a good artist I think. It is looking like a winner to me. I can't wait to see that rat eating the cookie.

Well I stripped all previous work down to the Concept drawing and the current WIP. The interest level in this WIP was almost nil. I appreciate the regulars commenting but not one new face commented. The ones that did know this stuff better then me! So I'm preaching to the choir as they say. I have to rethink my time using these forums...

I'm just back, didn't want to make a pest of myself. :)

I looked at your images and wondering how you make such elaborate sculpting in 3D. Mine are all boxes and cylinders. :)

My WIP days are over.

Don't make me come over there Bob

Seriously mate, don't get despondent, and don't you dare stop posting WIP's

or I'll be on the next flight over with a fresh can of whoop ass in my luggage just for you :D :D :D

I don't think you really appreciate just what an asset you are to these forums.

Be cool dude

WHAT THE!!??? I follow just about all of your stuff Steinie, please don't stop posting. You, Prodigy, Splinters, 3DFrog, WWW, Madmouse, the list goes on and on and I know I missed some others but I look at all your stuff for motivation. Keep up the good work, I usually check the WIP several times a day. I'm just afraid that I'm not posting anything worthwhile by telling everyone how great they are. I'll make comments though if it'll keep people posting!

Thanks for the hard work and the great modeling. This Halloween scene is coming along great and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Steinie you are so in the Dog house now.
I sure would like to see a cosmic background too.
Really though it is coming along really nice and I can
not wait for the finish product.

Clearly you were in the correct one, Steinie! Please don't stop now... it's a pleasure to watch your WIP... ;)

Totally agree!

Your work is always very interesting, and has a quite unique style as far as I can see on this forum that, to my mind at least, pushes the use of truespace in quite a different direction to the way a lot if us use it. As such, your compositions are always intriguing. I won't claim, falsely, that I love every single one - and your level of humour is obviously a bit sophisticated for me as I don't tend to get all your layers of humour (so I don't always comment so that I don't embaress myslef!), but I do like to see such a creative mind at work.

I hope you continue to post and develop your work - you are always willing to help others and offer advice, and ofer a unique and creative point of view.

(NB - and I promise I will post something soon for the House MMC, as per your request! I'm not used to doing WIPS, never really did one, as I normally would work something up to a finished state before sharing, to maximise the 'surprise' factor...)

Keep posting my friend. Some forums I post on I get no feedback and I don't know if I'm just not worth commenting on or something. It gets discouraging. I think your case though is that your image is coming so nice and its really a personal kind of style that its hard to make a crit of other than a sincere it looks great and keep going. I wasn't get much feedback on my nutty bot either, but I kept posting my progress and I was happy that it gave some people a chuckle. That makes it worthwhile.

a way to look at it might be... if the number of views is high, people are coming back again and again to look at it - they just don't always know what to say - but if they keep looking, they must be enjoying watching the process, and enjoying your work. ^_^

And a few will be confident enough to be making comments...

Thanks for the support guys. For some reason I just realized that it would be easier to just post finished pieces to the Gallery, since the response here was rather scarce. With no feedback you wonder if it is really worth the trouble.

Nez, I'm glad your an upfront honest person. I have no problem with you not liking some of my stuff as long as were both learning from it. 3D work is not in my comfort zone so I try the best I can. Sometimes you get a rose and sometimes you get dog poop. (which one did you like? )

JamesMc I too start with primitives, then I mess them up using the other tools.:) If there are any specific examples you want explained I'd gladly show you how I do it.

Tylerh, I see your in the Military so you get EXTRA points! I'll do anything you request, just say the word. I just appreciate what YOUR doing. Thanks for the nice compliment too. Your feedback is very important to me.

TrueBlue, I live in the doghouse...;)

Butterpaw, my imagination is kinda spooky, but what I do with graphics you do with music. Really nice music examples you had posted.

Jack Edwards, your one of my son's favorite users here (fellow doghouse creator) and to me a technical guru.

Mouse and Prodigy, No matter what you guys are always there, true pals!

I'm hoping to finish the piece this week, so that I can help Spitfire with his doghouse. Texturing is hard but teaching it is a nightmare.

Aww, thank you, Steinie :o

I really appreciate seeing the WIP's (I'm very far from doing one myself, I'm afraid.. still struggling through the tutorials) but I often don't have a really useful comment, because I don't know enough to make a useful crit.

However, it's very nice to be allowed to peer over the artist's shoulder.... and I'll just chirp from time to time ..so you know I'm watching

Thanks for the kind words Steinie, it's nice to know that there are some people that haven't forgotten that we're still at war. Regardless of their feelings on the situation. But, I don't want to ruin your post by bringing any of that stuff up. There's modeling to do and admire!

I'm glad you took that as well as I thought you would...!;) Seriously, from my relatively limited time here I was fairly sure you were the type of person who wouldn't be offended by me not liking all your work, so I'm glad I was right! I have a lot of respect for the work you do, the immense creativity behind it and your substantial efforts to support and constructively advise others here.

In terms of personal preferences, I particulalrly liked your piece with the violin and your clowns/cannons/circus piece - the only reason I didn't comment on the latter was that it was clear that I was failing miserably in the understanding of the sophistication of your humour (and you or someone else had made some negative remarks about unsophisticated sorts on another forum, if my memory serves) so I didn't want to embarass myself! I found it a visual treat and entertaining, but wasn't convinced that was the type of repsonse you were after.

Less keen on the flies/soup concoction - although I love the frogs - but maybe because I'm a tiny bit insect-phobic (probably a proper term somewhere...).

With this haunted house piece, I'm just interested to see how it ends up - I love the potential and it's coming along really well (and very close to your concept too).

I find your style very intriguing and quite unusual compared to others on the forum - to me it seems vaguely like a visual 'collage', perhaps due to the way you use photographic textures, but playing with them in such creative ways - the serpent door, tree trunk and your fab elephants previously being great examples. You're clearly also one of the more imaginitive members of the forum, in terms of coming up with and developing concepts - it's quite an 'alien' approach to me, as I'm a very 'traditional' modeller, in termso f I model very much 'real world' type things, without a great deal of 'creativity' as such (at least I think so!) and my texturing is very unsophisticated.

Like Butterpaw, I find it difficult to sensibly 'crit' in your case due to the difference of approach, material, techniques plus the additional barrier that I'm only using TS5 and hence don't have access/undertsanding of some of the methods and tools available to you or many others here....

Anyway, hope that makes sense - waffled on far too long. Please keep up the great work - I can always be sure that you will produce something novel, just like I can be sure MadMouse will go texture crazy, Prodigy will go superfast, etc!
