It can be from the old list of the 'Seven Wonders of the World'. It can be from the new list of the 'Seven Wonders of the World', or it can be something that you think should be on that list. It can be modern or ancient. Or something that you consider a 'Wonder' on this planet as you look around. It's Your interpretation that counts.
Let your mind's eye soar.
I prefer to call this a challenge, rather than a contest, because it challenges me to try and create something new, in a subject I may never have thought of, using techniques I haven't tried yet. That's the fun. That's the challenge, and that's the beauty.
You have the software... and this is a Great group to help you achieve creatively what you want. All you have to do is...just go for it. So... come join us :D
Here's the rules (from Jack's original Challenge) :
The idea is to have a challenge that is geared more towards the complete 3D development cycle from concept through modeling, surfacing, lighting, rendering, and post process. This is a chance for TSer's to really show their stuff and help motivate the production of portfolio quality images.
1.) Submission expresses the topic. If topic is an object, then it must include at least one instance of the object which should be the focus of the image.
2.) Use your own work. No pre-made purchased or free models, please.
3.) Start a Work In Progress thread for your submission.
4.) Submission should be one image and a link to your WIP thread.
5.) Indicate tools used to create your submission. TS should be the primary application used to create the image. Post Processing in a paint program is ok.
*It's important that everyone who's planning to enter start a WIP thread. With difficult challenges like this many entries are over ambitious and don't make it to completion so in many cases it may be likely that judging will have to take place on the WIP.
Deadline: Friday JULY 25TH at 10:00pm EST
Judging Ends Thursday JULY 31st at 8:00 pm EST |

BTW - I don't necessarily agree with the 'one pic' for final submission. I'd agree to up to 4 or 5, if you want to show more sides or details. |

well one caveat I see with one user submitting multiple images for a vote is, their votes will be diluted amongst all the images, unless you want to consolidate the votes for all the images of that one artist. |

Having multiple images displayed is what the WIP thread is for... right? The point of the one image restriction is to have an image to put in the MMC gallery, as long as a link is included there shouldn't be a problem.... |

Having several different angles and a "beauty shot" for the gallery seems a good idea to me.
People are supposed to vote as much on the WIP as the finalized image? No? Yes? Otherwise why hve a WIP except as a proof that it's your work you are submitting for the MMC. We need WIPs that show how a thing is done so people can learn new techniques as well as get Ideas for future reference. |

Is it just me, or is there only one entry so far? Have I taken every one else's favorite choice and no one wants to play? Have I dazzled people into thinking that their efforts could not possibly be as spectacular as my grandiose efforts?
;)
Surely with all that excellent modeling skill out there, we can have other people joining in on the fun...
I mean, hey! I didn't do the temples because I could not model the statues or friezes. However, if we could get W!ZARD, Splinters, Prodigy, and many more to start something, I would not only feel less alone, but would not win my first contest because I'm the only entrant!

Well I was going to do one..then I started on it..and then I could not get the angles right to match the real thing..so I stopped. |

Well rjeff, there's a ton of other choices. Like I said, let YOUR imagination soar if you wish; create something You consider a 'Wonder'. It can be anything that fits the title. Whether from history or your personal choice. :D
Don't sweat it kena; the process of trying something new is as much fun (and educational) as the finish.
Here's a link that might help you all visualize the older ones.

Well... don't let me stop you from entering. You can even do a stonehenge. It would probably be better than mine, but that's ok too.
you could always do the Lighthouse at Alexandria... |

I'm pondering on something original, and concentrating on "molly" as far as rigging. |

Don't feel too bad! I thought you won back in the end of last year sometime with the 'dream house' challenge so you're in with a chance of getting another win some day :D |
