Theuns, Weevil, glad to see you participating.

I have an idea for a picture but I think it's proper for the "subject picker" not to compete. Not much time to devote to it anyway.

you can take part, just don't include your entry in the voting pole, thats what I did last time, too much fun not to take part ;)

@Theuns - I'll make the picture when I have time or slowly over a long time. I'm starting a business and I spend too much time off of that project.

What's the rule on copyright? I know all you have to make your own work, but what if, for example I want to use, for example a design from something like star trek or star wars or something like that to emulate a scene?

The MMC rules don't mention copyrights so even flagrant copyright violations would be ok by the contest rules. Legally, and respecting intellectual property, my opinion is that most uses of themes, quotes, designs, from copyrighted material that would occur here would be allowed by "fair use" laws.

MMC rules require the models to be your work but the designs, stories, characters, etc. don't have to be original.

Could I do something Flash animated? I've been racking my tiny brain trying to think of something but the only thing i can come up with is interactive and needs Flash, it wouldn't work just images

@nigec - Sounds interesting! Rule 5 says that TS must be the primary application. So the question is would TS or Flash be the primary application? It's a modeling contest so it is about the models. I think it is ok as long as TS is the primary program used to make the models and images and flash being a way to present them but not a main means of producing them.

I say, given the above, that it is ok. If anyone objects then post it here.

The MMC is for fun of course so we don't need to be lawyers about the rules.

Flash will be only used to put the animation images together from TS, i could just make an AVI but i thought of something to make it interactive ;)

TS will be doing all the modeling, i don't have the latest Flash so i couldn't do any of the posh stuff anyway lol

Sorry guys but I may be out of the running, I'm not about to re-do that work I put into the scene if it turns out that I've really lost it

Sorry if you have to drop out.

Maybe someone will reply to your wip with a fix. I don't know one. You're working in workspace or what?

Maybe if you upload the scene to your wip someone can try on their set up. If anyone can load it and save it then maybe you'll be able to load that repaired scene.

My thoughts exactly...But I'm using truespace 6.6. I don't use 7.6, everything I guess is "modelspace"

And yes...I tried RJeff's solution...didn't work...

nigec, your entry is awesome! I wish I knew how to do that stuff. A very clever idea this month. Good luck with the voting!

Thanks Steinie :)

If you've got Flash, I can tell ye how ;)

I suck at characters hence why i did it this way, but there's no real flash trickery, its a TS contest so all i did was use flash to put the TS animation together and buttons

Your ass is awesome mate, the characters are pretty cool too :p

Just to make sure I have the right time, what is 23:30 Zulu time for the deadline? Can't we just use the Caligari time instead? Then we can all check and see exactly how much time is left...

Hi theuns.

The deadline is 23:59 zulu.

You can check the time here http://www.zulutime.net (link was at the bottom of original Nov. MMC post).

Zulu, or zero meridian time is almost the same as GMT. The armed forces of several nations use it as a sort of global clock. You can read about it here http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy.asp?id=185 and here http://navysite.de/what/zulu.htm.

I used it for the MMC timer so there would be no confusion about time zones, the date line, etc. My intention there was the same as yours with the Caligari time -- to give us all the same clock.

Err...any reason why this challenge is ending on a Saturday night instead of the usual Sunday night finish? For those who can usually only afford to dabble in tS at weekends, that's a whole day lost. Not bitchin - just curious.

@ Breech Block - Sorry about that. I didn't know about Sunday night being the usual. Makes sense about the weekend thing. I'll extend the date to Sunday 11/23/08. Bed time for me so tomorrow I'll post something in all the contestant's WIPs to be sure they'll know.

Vote!

Good luck everyone!

Late final pictures will be accepted from current contestants.

Looks like the View Results link is there instead of the results chart. I must have overlooked some option. Can't edit a poll so that's the way it will be.
