Hi everyone,

I am about to put together our next years brochure and upgrade our web site and would like you to give your comments, both good and bad, on some of my renders. It has been rendered using vray but all the settings are very low including anti alias.

Cheers.manxie:)

That looks really good, the sheets on the bed are done amazingly well. If you upped the settnigs in vray i'm sure you'd have a stunning final render on your hands, as it is you can see 'blotches' in places.

How come you kept the settings low, hardware problems or just testing it?

I think the lighting looks pretty nice - quite understated, but in a good way.

The balnkets etc look good, but at the foot of the bed you've got a fold sticking up which seems a bit unlikely as there's nothing under it to cause it to sit like that - you can do that at the top where it could be rucked up somewhat bit doesn't look right to me at the foot of the bed.

Nice pillows by the way - i'd like to see a wireframe of those to get an idea how you modelled them as pillows and cushions are, in my mind at least, really difficult!

You obviously do some great interiors work...

I think the sheets are a main focal point and really incorrect as Nez pointed out, especially the way that curve lifts up too much before cutting into the mattress.

Lovely work though and a great start.

Don't remember ever seeing that thread, althoug hI guess a bit of digging might turn it up.

It struck me that this looked a bit like a hotel room, in which case I'd expect the bed to be neatly made up anyway :D

But just toning down the crumples, especially at the foot, will probably mostly do the job...

I think the lights look nice...very smoothly done. My question and most people have touched on this. I see the sheet messed up as though somebody has been staying in that room. What I don't seem to see is some personal items about. I would say either make the bed neatly pressed or add some personal things. Just a thought.

There is a shadow in your render that bothers me. It is either unnecessary or giving off visual cues of a different light source from behind the viewer. From the refection in the three mirrors I would think the light source is coming from the left side of the render. It is a daytime shot so lamp shadows wouldn't show here. I like this rendering and wanted to contribute my 2 cents. (before inflation)

it looks to me that line you see is the bar in the glass window. If you look in the mirrors behind the bed you can see the reflection of it. And the bright area makes a rectangle. Where rhe sun is comming in at.

You were on the button rjeff, the light was coming from behind and casting a shadow from the window, here is the latest render, I am going to alter some textures and put glass in the window next it should reflect against the mirrors in the wardrobe doors. I hope.. thanks again for all the comments.. manxie;)

That's looking really great now. The mattress looks much more natural, and those sheets are sleeker. Nice use of dof too.

Looking great!

My own personal preference is to add blue light in the background for depth and coolness, gradually bring the warmer colors yellow/orange towards the front.

This will work with sheets as white sheets aren't really white, but have have bluish tint when indirect light hits them. Like I said it's a personal preference for lights.

I did a mini version, hope you don't mind, it's such a great room shot, mine was modified 2D, so it has a different look than real lighting.

now you have it Manixe. I like the bed and the sheet setup. Fantastic work...might I ask what kind of publication this is going on? Or are you supposed to keep it a secret?

Beautiful work with nice lighting and modeling. Pillows look very inviting :D

I see James point about the light but as it is now the render has an overall warm feeling which is great for advertising.

Very nice! I like the shadows which imply the presence of a window frame however the edges look a trifle too sharp IMO.

I REALLY like the outside view reflected in the mirrors - nice touch!

I think it looks great!

two things that I would do are:

Adjust the lighting a bit - There's something going on where the bed feet meet the floor - I'm not sure but I beleive it's to brightly lit under there (?). It kinda looks like the bed is floating about the floor or something. (Maybe your wood texture has some Lumous value set?)

Add a small amount of bevel to the edges of your wooden objects. It will catch the light and better define them. Personally, mathmatically sharp & perfect corners is a dead giveaway it was rendered ;)

Those are just my personal openions....

pre-made im afraid, I dont get much time to model plants or trees etc, as I do Architectural visuals for a living and most of my time is spent modelling the building internals, and externals,

As I have just started using truespace again (the last time was ts 4.0) its been really great to have all the comments and help with the new TS 7.5 + vray software, so thanks again: Manxie:D

looks good the nightshot :)
Personally a bit to cold like a 9000 kelvin temperature image. Maybe reducing it manually down to 6500k which gives a nice warm yellow tone.
Wonder a bit why the bed lamps don't create more orange tone to the image but think the ceiling lamps overlighten that.
I don't know how well blackbody (color temperature) work with vray but it's imho the best way to simulate natural lights.
