I am a brand new user of ts, I am reading the manuel but have a hard time to locate the icon not shown on the desk top. Is there an other manuel or index explaining where to find the requested icon.Example: Primitive Shape, where can I find the panel of Primitive Shape. Any help is very much appreciated.
There are other items which are very difficult to find. thanks again for your help. |

While we're waiting for that version number, let's ponder the question of why the version of tS that each user runs isn't *required information* when you register for the Forum? We could have nipped this eternal question in the bud by making it mandatory for new users to specify what version they have and have it listed in their profile.
Just sayin' |

I don't know what the "Primitive Shape" icon is meant to be - don't have a tS5 manual to hand. Best to let us know what it is meant to do, then we can direct you to it (bear in mind that you have to make a manual before software is released, and sometimes changes happen to the software between production of manual and release of software - not to mention that if a printed manual, that it will be for tS5.0, and what you are running is most likeky tS5.2).
Anyway, I don't recall any tool called "Primitive Shape".
You can add primitives by using the icons in the bottom left - you'll see the Cube there by default, and if you click and hold, all the other primitives will fly out. As far as I remember, those are the only primitives and tools with primitive in their name.
What was the "Primitive Shape" being used for in the manual btw?
Thanks!

OK.
No problem, Just update your profile via the User CP link with your version info.
My comment/question was aimed more the forum admin <cough, Norm> than you personally.
The default location for the Prim toolbar is lower left.
It sounds like you might have the toolbar minimized- look for a tiny square- that may be the minimized toolbar. Click it again to display it.
The Recycle Bin can be right clicked to display the 'All In One Monster Uber Toolbar' with all icons in it. You can Shift or Control Drag icons out of this to create new toolbars or replace deleted icons. Right clicking on the Recycle Bin again will turn off the giant toolbar.
If all else fails, click the 'Reset ToolBars Layout' icon in the lower right corner. |

Thanks for all your help. I found the Primitive Shape Bar and or Parameters. Left click Prmitive Cube, put on screen than right click shaded cube icon and the Primitive Shape and Parameters appear. I am just reading the manuel from A - Z and try to find all the icons in order to understand their functions.
Thanks again for your fast replies. Best Forum ever for beginners.

As far as I remember tS5 isn't too much different than tS66.
There two locations for primitives.
One is in the object Library, titled "addprimitives" and the other is on the tool bar under the icon titled "plane."
The add primitives is a Library which can have some pre-made primitives and where you can store your own if you wish to do so.
The other primitive location is on the bottom tool bar and to the far left.
It has plane, cube, cylinder, cone, sphere, rounded cylinder, rounded cube, torus. |
