Is it possible to have cameras set up in different locations and then script it in the scene editor so that your view changes between them during play back?

Not that I know of. If you render an animation, it will render the view that you are currently in. That means, if you want to have the animation viewed and rendered from the camera, then select the camera, click "view from object" (camera icon). Then render the frames that are suppose to be rendered from that camera. Then select the other camera, view from object, render the rest of the frames. I don't know if you have access to the viepoint by phyton script. Or there might be a plugin I don't know of and does just that.

By the way, you might find the "Find Camera" plugin useful (Link: http://ckgamefactory.hp.infoseek.co.jp/tsxe.html )

You can select all available cameras and change views. You can also create a camera from the actual perspective view. Though it can not be keyframed. So it doesn't actually solve your problem, but it makes things easier.

It's possible to keyframe the camera object so it jumps from one position to another and if you view through the camera the view will flick instantly to the new pov. I added a 'look at' target (the cone) to the camera and keyframed it at 4 positions around the subjects;changing position every 30 frames. The trick to making it flick is to have a keyframe holding the camera in one position until you want to change views.

8-bit: When keying the camera to jump from one spot to another over a single keyframe, keep in mind it may look a bit funny if you have motion blur enabled. ;)
