Hi all,

Is it possible to display an external image in a window somewhere in Truespace 7? Looking at a tutorial on 3D studio, I saw this feature where one of your view windows could be set to show an external image. That means you can display a reference photo alongside your work while modelling. Very useful.

Is this possible in Truespace? If not, I'd like to suggest it as a simple, very useful new feature.

Many thanks

You can use image planes and put your graphic on the image planes.

If not sure how to do it I would suggest viewing the GameSpace videos by 3DBuzz or go to 3DBuzz.com and download/view them there. One excerpt from the video that shows where they are setting up the elf image planes so they can model.

You can also set an image to be a background to a window in the same way you can set a background colour. It won't render unless you also set the render background to be the same image. This is sometimes more useful than having to create a plane and texture it with the image, especially if you are trying to merge a CG element with a background plate.

Thanks Guys, looks like what I had in mind isn't possible. I've tried the 3d planes approach and found it not terribly satisfactory as the mapped image displayed at too low resolution. I'm not sure how to set the background colour as an image in one window only, but I'll have a go.

Ta very much.

You might try increasing the resolution of textures in 'display options'
