I'm working on a model of a bird, the tail feathers and wing tip feathers are separate objects and not shown here. I was wondering how best to apply a UV map to it. If I do a planar from the side it will give me stretched textures acrossed the top and bottom.

Map the top, bottom, and side seperatly with planar mapping, and stich the maps together in the uv editor. Cylindrical mapping could also work. I can't see the image, so I can't tell ;)
