This one speaks for itself, really. Don't ask me why I chose to model a toilet! It's quite bare at the moment, and suffers a little from the fact that I don't really know what I'm doing. Constructive criticism much appreciated, particularly regarding lighting. I used an array of local lights outside, and one in the middle as a booster. |

LOL Butterpaw! I was thinking the very same thing :)
That, and the fact I would NOT go in there! |

There's nothing wrong with modelling toilets :D. Check out MadMouse's beast. (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=1675&highlight=toilet)

Well, there probably would be a leopard in there if I could model one! Yes, it's supposed to be gut-wrenchingly ominous, and though I when I get some more time to work on this I'm going to add more dirt, detail and decay, and perhaps a puddle of water.
The original inspiration was for a slimy tentacled monster to emerge from the basin, squelch up the wall and head out into the light, squeezing between the metal bars... but hours of play with the trueSpace animation tools only resulted in disaster. This might be the time to admit that I am still in the dark ages on ts 4.3. Please nobody hit me, I can't afford anything better.
PS excuse a little sidetrack here... but surely caligari can edit their forum spellchecker so that 'trueSpace' and 'Caligari' aren't underlined in red! The same thing happens for 'facebook' on facebook. Most amusingly of all, none of them understands 'spellchecker'! |

Awww ... when 'my ship comes from China, laden with gold...' I will be able to wipe those frustrations away..
but, sadly, I think it must have sunk to wherever Atlantis sunk :p |

Butterpaw: It appears that all the ships laden with gold aren't coming from China, they're going to China.
Turning lead into gold? Neat Trick!
WhiteKnight: here's an oldie but a goodie tutorial regarding lighting. (Link Here) (http://www.3drender.com/light/3point.html)
I'd agree with kena that the proportions on the tank are a bit large.
Nothing wrong with tS4.3, it's one of my favorite earlier versions.
Animating anything, squishy or otherwise, is not my bag, so good luck! |

Well, I can't ignore 2 requests to shrink the tank - that's been done, and it's now much more beautiful :)
That lighting tutorial was great, spacekdet. I've used a backlight in the render below. It means I can have the scene darker but still make out the shape of the important objects - brilliant. Never would have thought of that myself. |

Hmm, doesn't look very different actually! Ah well, perhaps there's only so much a toilet can say. |

Lower the tank a bit... or make it a bit smaller... in most of these devices, the seat when up is higher than the tank... usually about 1/8 of the top of the seat is over it. THEN it would look more realistic. |
