Yes, it works fine. It can sometimes get a bit grumpy if you use it on a SDS object without extracting the final mesh first but apart from that, never had a problem. |

Actually, is it still available? I can't seem to find a retailer. |

I've used it successfully but primarily working with straight poly models... no experience with sds. Doesn't do nurbs. A very good tool though.
Their web page appears to be dead... perhaps moved on to other stuff.
Available in the FXPak though... $199 normally. Caligari occasionally has sales which might let you obtain it for a lower price.

Think some other folks used other UV mapping tools externally via import/export through LUUV plugin. |

You guys should try sending Urban Velkavrh (the developer) an email.
A question for anyone who has used both...how comparable is the UV Editor in TS 6.6 to UVCow. It seems to have a lot of the same functionality and it wouldn't be the first time that a plugin's functionality was integrated into the main program. |

First it use only OBJ "Wavefront" you can download a Excelent plugin from here..
http://pinacoderm.com/tsx/luuv/index.html
* To export you must press ALT
And By the way.. the OBJ exporter doesnt work on 7.11 (Model) i try on 6.6 and works good..
Now here is the software.. it looks very intuitive i think its free.. ;)

Just to add what the others have said - I use U|V Cow pretty heavily in tS6.6, so it works fine. (There is the SDS issue, as TheWitch points out, but that's easy to get around.) It's a fantastic tool to have.
I picked it up for around $60 or so when it was available through PrimitiveItch.com. About the only way to get it now, as mentioned, is through fxPak.
Trying to contact Urban through email would be worth a shot at maybe purchasing it individually.
...or you could submit a winning gallery entry and get the whole fxPak for free! :) |

I'd imagine that jscript or VBScript bricks could be used to create an object import/export feature. I'm looking to do similar work towards an export capability for Microsoft Flight Sim X (After all, why should gmax users have all the fun? :) ) I have to understand the ins and outs of trueSpace 7's mesh format first though. |

If you have trouble finding UV Cow, you might try UVMapper. It's not very expensive and works well. It's got some nice features like snap into alignment and relax.

Another program worth looking into Ultimate Unwrap 3D http://www.unwrap3d.com/
Also does a bunch of import/export formats for game engines, games and 3D applications.
