Hello, I am using v5.2 and I have noticed this issue happen quite a few times. I would build an item and insert this item into a particular library. Sometimes I would get a 'No Preview' instead of the thumbnail. I would then save again and it would save item with the thumbnail. Now when I try to add this item to the workspace, nothing happens. If I drag and drop, I receive an application error which references to some memory.

1. Is this object retrievable? I don't want to start all over on it if I don't have to. LOL

2. Is this caused by the complexity of the object?

Any and all help from Truespace users, as always is greatly appreciated.

I have not used tS5 in years but this sounds like bad geometry or hierarchies in the scene. I still get problems loading old objects into ts7 and 7.5.

Try breaking the object apart if possible and saving each part as a separate object and then rebuild the scene by loading each object. Maybe then you can save the scene...:)

Worth a try I guess...;)

Paul is correct - sounds like bad geometry. The lack of a preview means that tS was not able to render the object. When it can't render it, it can't save it - something is corrupt in the data structures for the object.

Approaches are

1. Split into separate objects and save each one by one as Paul says, until you find the one causing a problem

2. Try "Fix Bad Geometry" tool which may help

3. Try Triangulating, which may help

4. Manually check out the mesh for potential problem areas in geometry

HTH!
