okay got another question
I'm setting up 6.6 to be as much like 5 as I can because I'm quite used to it, and this is the last setting that's still giving me some confusion

I have the same scene setup and same wireframe colors set up
(white for selection, maroon for scene objects, red for highlight, green for sub-selection etc)
but in 6.6 outside of Point Edit everything is white or very light grey (see attached)
this is frustrating because on a large model it will be very difficult to tell which child object in the heirarchy is selected . . . I prefer to have objects in heirarchy be either green or dark blue selected and not selected respectively

thanks in advance :D

[edit] the second attachment is 6.6

You're using layer colours. Right click the layer and you can set the layer colour with the option to use it as the wire colour or not. Right click the Add New Layers icon (the plus sign at the bottom of the layers toolbar) and in there is an option to use layer colours or not. (When scenes start getting object heavy layers and thier colour coding is an absolute godsend)

Hope that helps

you need to turn layer colours off..in the layer by right clicking on layer to acess the 'use as wire colour' checkbox..also right click on new layer icon to open layer info panel for the 'use layer colours' checkbox there too. if you are using more than one layer and want the ts5 colours before more layers get added
hth Gord

edit ..'opps' WWW beat me to the answer
