Not sure what ps_1.x is, but Model side does have X format export. Just select the object and click File->SaveAs->Object, click the drop down and choose DirectX.

Also you may want to look into this program:

http://www.unwrap3d.com/

Which imports cob files and can export most game formats out there. Not to mention it's awesome at UV layout.

ps_1.x is pixel shader 1.x. I have the april 2007 directx sdk and when i try to load models from truespace I get an error because directx does not support pixel shader versions below 2.0.

Hi all,

At present work on formats has not been done, we just kept the focus on the core tools in tS7.5. That way we now have something definite and fixed to export (rather than develop the exports, change things in the core code thus breaking the export, fix the export, change things in the core code that breaks the export, and so on!).

Also of course we released as soon as we could once the core tools were down, so we didn't hold things up for any work on formats.

Never fear though formats have been on our lists for some time, and we have ideas and plans based on our own research, and based on feedback from users and beta testers alike. So formats is a big issue that we will be turning out attention to.

Odd that there isn't backward compatibility in the DX SDK though - I would have thought pixelshader 2.0 stuff would have been able to display and work with pixelshader 1.0 stuff. Are there any converters or third party loaders out there that might get around this (ie things you can run on the exported X model in ps_1 format - I figure a lot of people out there would have had a lot of ps_1 models they would want to use in the new SDK, so someone probably came up with some conversion method to save having to re-edit all their models). Keep us updated if anything like that exists!

HTH!

Tom

As a workaround, what about exporting it with LUUV to OBJ, load it into Blender, and export it from there? Blender supports PS2 afaik :)

This means when we are not talking about animations here ...

Question: the new file format stuff, is that a thing of months, or do we have to wait another one or two years before it appears with the next mayor release?
