The old architecture collision system was great. By setting the options, I could make things collide with both the ground and their peers. However, I can't find similar functionality in the new Workspace View. Can it be done?

This may not be what you're looking for, but I just found a panel in the 'Main Library Place' (accessed through Library Browser) called 'Activity Simulation' that may deal with that - I haven't tried it yet, but I guess you could start there?

Also, I have the feeling that you can get a lot of this stuff done in the LE (I'm going to have to force myself into learning it some day soon :) )

Hope this helps,

rf

It's not in there yet. I've looked all over for it in Workspace view to no avail. I enabled collision in Model view, but it doesn't affect the Workspace side.

The good news is that it works as it always has in Model view...if you have any positioning in need of collision it's best to do it there.

It's not too far - being just a click away. I'm sure it'll find its way over, eventually.

If I right click the Start/Stop Physics Simulation icon there will be the PhysEngine panel in the Panels. With in this panel which is also in the Link Editor, I see the option Whole Scene Collisions check box. Is this what you are referring to? Due note that the Workspace Physics is much more powerfull then Model's Physics and are both different with different settings. You can also disable Collisions on per object basis within that object's node. Entering inside the object that has Physics Material applied you will see the PhysObject. Switch to the Constraints aspect and you will see the option Active. Unchecking Active will make it static.

Thanks trueBlue printing that out...

Mac I have both Model and Workspace windows open and use the Model collisions functions either on a little toolbar or from C and V hotkeys on/off. Collisions work as normal in Workspace like this although collision detection is a bit of a mystery still, I think maybe large flat surfaces are tricky to collision detect - no pointy bits to quickly detect vertex bumping. Ah maybe subdivide walls for hanging pictures. Or give the pictures little lugs/spacers behind, good idea :)
