Hello, Iam having trouble getting the dx9 bump map texture to work in the LE. When I remove the default bump map and put anything else in .. it does not have bump characteristics. See image below. Thanks for any help.

p.s. Free Render to file tutorial here ...

You can assign a bump map on model side and it will convert it to a normal map for the workspace side. I think maybe it was misnamed since it looks like it's all normal maps in workspace.

Did you UV map the object? And does your vid card support bump mapping?

Hi, Thanks for your help. However, I was grabbing just a standard bump map image file from off my hard drive. I have lots of bump maps. I should be able to load any bump map file in to the area that says NORMAL TEXTURE and that should create the bump map. I replaced the standard BLUE GRID bump map file that was the default NORMAL TEXTURE and replaced it with different bump map images from my hard drive. Nothing works. hmmmmmmmmm

Hi Jack, Yes, I added a uv. Basically all Iam trying to do is make a sphere. Add the DX MATERIAL TEXTURE BUMP MAP from the dx material library. Then I go in to the LE materials and change texture bumpmap NORMAL TEXTURE to a different image. It should create a different bump map THAN THE DEFAULT BLUE GRID bump map. The default blue grid bump map works fine and my video card does support bump mapping.

Read clintonmans' post again. It should be a normal map on the workSpace side.

Bump maps look like this:
7271

Normal maps look like this:
7272

Thank you for you help. That did work. But why? I have used Softimage XSI and 3d max .. a bump map file is what you use for a bump map in those 3d programs. Not a normal map. Why is this different in Truespace workspace?

Thanks again for your help. Iam having problem figuring out how to add the bump map in the model side and use the texture created version of that bump on the workspace side. I can not find or figure out how to use the texture created bump map file on the workspace side. Any info would be appreciated.
