I'm looking for a good character pack of regular people for a Playground scene: moms, kids, teens, etc. Just normal people. I want to get a pack that is compatable with TS7.5 with minimal headache - already textured, bones, etc.

Any suggestions?

There aren't any pre-rigged character sets available yet. 7.5 just recently came out, so it'll likely be a bit longer before those become available.

Of course that means that there's a money making opportunity for the first person to get it done. ;)

hmm, how compatible are packs for other formats? Turbosquid has some nice charachter packs, but they are 3ds files. I don't mind using those if they are reasonable compatible.

Anyone tried these before?

I wouldnt go with a 3ds format, you might get the geometry to load but I think the UV maps may not work out.

Your best option is to look for a pack available in the OBJ format. This is very common, since all apps load OBJ and load it well, and include texture and bump maps (and normal maps too I think). If a pack of some sort is for sale, it will often include OBJ. If you are not sure, you can always write to the makers of the pack and ask.

Use the LUUV plugin to import and you should have the least problems of any format.

HTH!

.3ds has always worked good for me, I impor into modeler, and paint the included texture onto model in model side and add bump texture, which displays a normal map automatically in workspace, this is how TankGirl was created.

Hello Mr Bones, I also read elsewhere that you can apply a bump map in modeler and that it converts to a normal map in workspace. I try that but can not figure out in workspace how to view the normal map/bump on my object. In the LE what would I need to do? Thanks ....
