Hi,

What you do to use an image as a texture is load it into the material. You won't find the 2D formats under the File -> Load menu, as that loads things into the 3D space.

Simply open the Material Editor, set your color shader to Texture Map, and then open the dialog to chose the image you want to use as a texture map. Paint the material onto your sphere, and there you have it!

HTH!

It would seem to me your main problem is your inability to be civil...

Thankfully I am not a Caligari employee, so I can say things like this :)

Okay, here's specifics:

1. Open up GameSpace Light 1.5

2. Left click on the Material Editor, which is found on the bottom of your screen near the middle. The icon is mainly brown with a bunch of other colors on it.

3. Click on the blue arrow at the top right of the box that comes up. It will open all texturing options.

4. Then, right click on the color wheel, which is the box labeled "color" at the top.

5. A box at the bottom should open with the title "color shaders". Left click on the square that is purple and says "CALIGARI" on it.

6. The purple square that says "CALIGARI" on it should now replace the color wheel in the box titled "color". Left click it to open a texture map.

7. It will probably open up textures in a folder similar to: C:\gameSpaceLight1.5\Textures\

8. If your texture is in a different folder, left click on the open folder button on the top left of the window.

9. Look for the folder that you have your JPEG textures in, select it and click "OK".

10. Now, scroll through to look for your texture. Double left click the texture that you wish to place on your sphere.

11. Create a sphere by left clicking and holding down the mouse button over the shape icon, which is to the right of the recycle bin (the recycle bin is in the bottom left corner). Keep the mouse button held down and release it on one of the spheres (doesn't really matter if it's green blue or brown; probably want to go with the brown).

12. Left click and drag somewhere in your scene to create the sphere, and it should have the jpeg texture you selected before on it.

Hope this helps.

I apologize if anything is a bit off in the directions; I've downloaded the free version of gameSpace Light 1.5 once too, and it has a great resemblance to the layout of TrueSpace 6.6, which is the program I used for reference.
If you have any questions, all of us at the forums would be more than happy to answer them, and if we don't answer them entirely, just let us know that. TomG happens to work for Caligari, he and other members of Team Caligari are always on the forums, so be careful what you say. It seems that you're a brand new user to gameSpace or trueSpace, so you should let people know that in the next thread you start so they have an idea of what you already know.
TomG could've been a little more specific, though....
Thanks ProfessorKhaos! :D

Hmmm... checking his public profile I can say the problem certainly isn't Tom. I have a screen capture of it in case it gets changed later but it appears this individual is a troll. I'm not basing this on choice of user names but because of what was written in his biography section, location, and interests.

Best to move on.
