I've only just started using TrueSpace and its quite a complex beast.

Having a bit of a problem with materials.

I am finding that I can only select a material before a shape, then the shape renders with my chosen material.

Is it possible to change the material on a given object?

Also how do I position an object adjacent to another?

I can move it around the screen but cant place it exactly to join with another object.

Can anybody help out a newbie?

Thanks

Whoops!!

Forgot to give version #

Its 3.2

Sorry

The answer you get will depend on which version of tS you are using.

If you use the eyedropper Cyber from the Materials Editor of some description :) the material's parameters are displayed, same as in a paintshop program: and then you can use the funnel or the paint roller (both icons are within the materials editor) to repaint the object with your updated material parameters. Or you can create a new object now using the updated material parameters

The material editor icon is a painter's palette perhaps, depending on your TS version

Check your User Panel and add your machine and TrueSpace version details so (the very helpful) experienced TS users can advise you more efficiently. And more quickly which is half the battle starting out :)

Thanks for the tips Weaveribm.

I have noted your comments on displaying Version #.

Will attend to it as soon as I have posted this.

Thankyou

spacekdet (and many other Caligari forum friends) was helping me start out a couple of months ago so what comes around goes around :)

I can move it around the screen but cant place it exactly to join with another object

There's a Search function top right Cyberman, use it from the highest level in here 'trueSpace Community Forums'. The XYZ icons lock or unlock the three axes of motion

You can make Unions of objects or Join objects As Child/Peer but look out for Grouping objects where you can put objects in the same group and then turn the group on and off, lock the group and so on. Groups are called Layers sometimes
