I was working on a Scene yesterday and noticed an odd behaviour. Bridge ON, all work done in workPlace except importing Objects. I could create a SpotLight and place it in the scene like normal but then something happened. Any Spotlight I tried to create and place in the scene would be glued to an existing object in the scene. LE showed it as a Spot. I could not change the color of the light or move the Spot unless the object moved too.
My gut says it has to do with the light being part of a Material...
The only solution was to reload a saved scene and start over.
Any Help? How could I get this to stop. |

Steinie, by chance did you have an object active when you added the spot? there is a [create] sibling option on the lights in preferences..only difference is they get called 'object' |

Stan,
I never saw this problem before yesterday and have not been in Preferences since Install. If I deleted the object the spotlight also was deleted and visa versa. Once the object was deleted and I tried to create another spotlight it then stuck to another object in the scene. I also noticed two different "Spot1" in LE, but one was with other lights and the other was inside the object module. |

I too am trying to figure out what I did to create this situation. What happens if you create a Spotlight by clicking ON an object?
Test Case: Create sphere, create spotlight and place on the sphere. Are they connected? Does this happen to anyone else?
My computer is at home. |

Right click the Spot light icon. If the option in the Stack/Light panel, Create is Sibling verses Object, I can reproduce your scenario. HTH |

An obvious malfunction.
You prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads.
I'll collect some ball bearings.
Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays.
Or maybe your objects are so wonderful they have started thinking they all deserve their own spotlights. |

OK, I checked my settings and the Spotlight is set to "Sibling" I didn't change it in the drop down so I must have clicked something in the LE. What is the purpose of this function? |

Sibling as in Glue as Sibling = tS6.6
Sibling as in Encapsulate 3D = tS7 Workspace. |
