Suddenly I am unable to select an object by left-clicking on it.

If I select the object in the LE the object widget appears, but I cannot select the object normally in the Workspace window.

[deleted rabid rant] :)

Mind you I did install the Nvidia Vista beta drivers earlier. Hmmm lol

Dear reader did you know: if you need to rant about something, rant away and then pre-delete it. The effect is exactly the same you will feel better immediately. Handy Household Hint Number Two :)

New scene, make some cubes, selecting them works fine. All (sampled) saved scenes will not allow object selection from Workspace

So it's unlikely that it's graphics card drivers

Deleted default.ctx, still no selection. Took the scene to TS installed on another drive, still no selection working

You have reached Witt's End. Near the door stands a suspicious Gremlin

Are there objects on hidden layers?
Are these objects glued...er..encapsulated with objects on visible layers?
A visible object tied to a hidden layer/object becomes unselectable.

hidden layers

Thanks for helping spacekdet, forgive me but I thought that Workspace does not have layers, will investigate that. I miss them from Modelside. I have seen the layer word in Workspace somewhere and thought it was something to be switched on in a future version. I've recovered somewhat from the fright, really appreciate your support cheers

<sounds of cogs whirring>

You've lit a lightbulb, I haven't been over to Modelside to see how the land lies there. I was working within the full scene on a small object and you remind me that I can turn off layers from Modelside. The layer lock yes that would account for it - but strange as I haven't been working over there. TS crashing did something bad obviously

But then why would scenes from weeks ago also have their layers locked... will press on, somewhere there's a global lock in operation even though I'd deleted default.ctx. Maybe I'll also ship out any other ini file too, thanks again!
