My new computer is a Dell XPS 410

Vista

32 BIT

Intel core 2 CPU 6320@ 1.86GHZ - 1.86GHZ

2046 RAM

Graphics card: NVIDIA G-FORCE 7300 LE - 128MB

I would be very grateful if someone who understands computers would offer an opinion about the above with respect to TrueSpace 7.51, especially the graphics card.

Thanks for your time

Ack... The 7300 LE is very weak with Vista and generally a poor performer. :(

It should run TrueSpace just fine, but it would be worth it to put in a better video card, especially if you plan to run any games on it...

I'd recommend an 8600 if you can afford it. Otherwise the 7600 and 7900 cards are nice. I'm currently using a 7900GS made by XFX, it's a factory overclocked "Extreme" version, but it runs most things without any problems at 1680x1050.

The other components of your computer are fine.

Best of luck!

As a general information Nvidia always use these numbers:

the first number is the Gpu generation, actually are running in serie 8.

the 3 next numbers marks the "quality" from the GPU and the 500 is a mid performance VGA. any number above 500 is better.. any number below 500 has less quality in performance..

Now.. Gforce 6,7 are DirectX 9.

Sure a series 7 is better than a series 6, less if you compare a 7100, 7200, 7300 with a Series 6 like a 6800GS..

So i recommends buy any vga over the x500, better if is a GTX.

I've working with a 6600vtd and it works preaty well in XP with 7.51

I have the XFX 7900 GT Extreme which is sweet but my vista has messed up a little and the card is misbehaving (or is broken...eek)

Anyway, It is a solid card. My brother uses a 7600, I think XFX again and it's pretty good but with some of the modern games it struggles. Good value for the money though. I wouldn't bother with a 6 series card because they are dated and a 6600 is significantly slower than a 7600 but would be better than a 7300...

I only really use my PC for modelling and in that respect the 7900 is sweet and so responsive (once I rebuild vista :()

Thanks again to all for the helpful info. I am having a few problems that I am almost sure are graphics card related and so I am shopping for a new one now. This one came with the machine.
