I find that when I flatten a smooth, rounded shape (left hand objects) - or even create a somewhat flat shape to begin with - weird ridges appear (right hand objects). They are actually only painted on the smooth surface - when I view the edges of the objects, they are still smooth curves. The ridges don't render but they sure are ugly and confusing when working.

I don't recall them previously, but I just installed a new graphics card (EVGA 8600GTS 512MB 2GHz). I hate to think it is to blame.

Any clues about how to clean up the working view? Thanks again.

Just rendering it, it goes away. :)

You have a very nice graphics card, you are probably seeing more detail than you are used to seeing.

I've noticed that in all 3D programs, an unrendered object always looks much different.

Unless of course you are in Workspace, then it should look like it's rendered all the time. :)

Yes, I just installed TS on my little laptop and it does the same thing, so I'm glad it's not the new card. Meanwhile lots of other problems have now disappeared since I installed the new card.
