Help please!
I don't have V-Ray yet, but somehow I've set TS7.5 to use V-Ray for rendering and can't find the setting for the internal render engine. It was rendering
fine until yesterday...don't remember doing anything different.
Thanks!

Right click on the render button will bring up the options panel in the stack view. You can change the renderer at the bottom of the panel. |

Are you sure you don't have Vray installed? Without it there should be no option for the Vray render engine in the options. It only appears once it is installed... |

Vray shows up on mine and I don't get any options when I right click on it, I get nothing actually with right click. The V-Ray button highlights but doesn't render. (on the work space side)
On the modeler side it's scanline or raycast choice.
oops forgot to add panel for workspace side it's lightworks or virtualight. That panel only shows up only if you click on the floor, at least for me it does. |

When megacal said he had set up tS for Vray rendering I presumed he meant in the stack or via the old preferences panel.
I am a bit out of testing now but I believe you need the Vray.tsr installed for it to show up in the options. As for the workspace render icon saying Vray...well, I questioned that some time ago...as in what if you don't actually have Vray installed...kinda makes it a redundant icon...:o |

Well, right now I can't figure out how to render in Workspace as the only render that shows up on the button is vray. The panel says I'm using Raytracing from lighworks, but there is no button to push to render to file or to screen. Right clicking on the vray button doesn't do anything. |

You cannot render from workspace using LW...only Vray... or DX9.
There is an icon on the far right of the little toolbar (above the manual icon) which lets you render the screen to file but this will be exactly what you see in real time (DX9).

Well rendering the workspace screen is better than nothing. :)
The reason I'm holding off on V-ray is because of the limited amount of shaders and some other stuff it cannot currently do. It may be a good renderer, but it's akin to owning a race car with no wheels. :)
Maybe not, but still waiting on it. |

Thanks for all the help.....I don't have V-Ray
installed....I downloaded the demo, but never opened it.
I finally found the button to select VirtuaLight or Lightworks,
and get a scene render or to file.
It works with both, but I get an error box several times during the
render process about the VirtuaLight log(?)
See screen shot: http://www.calmardesign.com/trueSpace/ts75_renders.gif
I see the V-Ray buttons, and also there are 2 sets of render buttons on
separate toolbars.....I don't understand the difference yet....appears to
be redundant.....but maybe I can put them all together since you can
edit create your own toolbars, right? ;)
I'm still poking around the "candy store" to see what's in all
the bins. :D
So many tools, so little time! |

I think the problem is the fact that the vray icons show whether or not you want to use or even have VRay installed when in Workspace. Only DirectX and VRay can be used there. If you go to modeller you can use the other 2 renderers. I still like it since I learned to do a lot there. It was one of the first things that got me when I first got 7.5 and tried using workspace.
All you need to know is the vray render icons are for vray only and if you want to use anything else go to modeller |
