I set up and saved a new layout and when I was done, I noticed that the Model and Workspace tabs had disappeared. The 3D window is named "System" and the tabs are gone.

Any clues on how to get them back without starting all over again?

Thanks

The workspace/modeler tabs disappear on me too as well.

It's bothersome especially when your in the middle of a project.

Try clicking the Default tab to get them back.

Try clicking the Default tab to get them back.

That doesn't help if you are in the middle of something and have drug out icons, libraries and other things.

Once you hit default, it goes back to default mode and sends all open items back where they were.

I don't feel like making a custom interface every time I work on something.

It's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Hello johnhoward,

Can you reproduce this behaviour?

If you open a new '3d window' does that solve the issue?

I never had this problem before.

Da Dude

DudeMeister,

Opening a new window does nothing. The layout remains without the tabs, and I don't know when they first disappeared. I can go to the default layout, but that defeats my purpose, since my new layout is the one I want to work with. I have also created my own Model-side layout and I can use that to get over there, but it is slow compared to the now-missing tabs.

I guess I will live without them and hope for improvements in the next upgrade.

Thanks to all for the replies.

You could also post the .rsl here and let us figure out what is happening for you too. There are lots of users here that love challenges.

Could you please post a screen shot with your Main window (Title bar reads System in your screen shot) not Maximized?

I have been gone and only just now revisited this thread and found two new posts from Steinie and trueblue. Attached is the .rsl file suggested by Steinie and the screenshot requested by trueblue. Sorry for the delay and thanks.

I fixed your Layout so now the Model/Workspace tabs show as expected. I suspect that you had selected the Orange Triangle on the Main window titlebar. It is a known error and reported to Developers. If you do this again by accident, just select this layout again and it will be restored.

Thanks, trueblue. (How'd you do that?) I have opened and saved your new layout and it works great, except that now it has no " desktop" in the stack. That's something I use all the time to turn on and off the point-edit widget. Is there a way to make the desktop panel reappear?

In the Stack select the icon on the top left in titlebar and then select Open Desktop Preferences.

Your welcome! BTW: I have found a way to remove the bottom two Workspace Main toolbars and have saved the Layout for you. I also fixed your top two toolbars from showing through other windows. HTH
Before you ask I do not see a way to stop the Navigation toolbar from reappearing as I believe it is hard coded to show with all D3D View windows.

The solution is simple. Close both of the bottom Main toolbars from their handles X menu and then save your layout.
