I do a lot of modeling in CBMP which exports to a obj then I convert this to 2ds. Once there I can bring this into the truespace software I noticed I lose the individual objects in my model they get grouped as on object that can not be unglued easily. mesh maps stay in tact so I get colors in place no problem. I have l;earned that if I drop a material ont a part that sometimes this will seperate that part of the model from rest. I can rectify this with union tool if needed. I want to know if it is possible to seperate my whole model into its subparts without this and if this is only way to get my modeled seperated?

I like the idea of adjusting my models in truespace after they are added.

And the program I use leaves all models with a shiny type of texture I want to add some realistic textures to them like age or hair or whatever. but not to enire body! thanks friends

The first thing to try is the Decompose Into Objects tool, this usually does the trick if the objects were originally glued rather than booleaned in the other 3D app.

Do be sure that it hasn't come in as glued (that you can't move down in the hierarchy), and if not, give the Decompose Into Objects tool a try! I think its there in 5.2 :)

HTH!

Thanks Tom upon further looking I saw the items all listed in the keyframe editor making it easier to select the exact on I needed and then was able to modify them....

it just seems the cookies have been put on too high a shelf that some of the children can't reach them with out a boost!
