Hello again,
TS7.51(workspace)
I had a little problem, when adding a cylinder normally this is interactive: the settings can be changed via the panel,... but this stopped working. The control of this did come back after adding / deleting other primitives, but now the default is set to "Shell-> thickness 1.#IO", changing this with the mouse (on the little arrows first changes it to 9999999.000 (see pics below), so I then have to manually enter a number (if I want a shell). Is there a way to reset this?
While I am here, I see that TS likes to load the last scene, looking through the manual I find "Workspace-> File menu-> Preferences", but I can only find this on the model side (TS6 menu). De-selecting the auto-load does not affect the workspace side. Is there a way to prevent the loading of the last scene (I know I can make new scene before exit: but I dont always remember, and I should not really need to do this)
Regards, |

It looks like a bug to me.
This is what I do for a living (QA Quality Assurance) so I am very qualified to say the following. How did they miss that?
All bugs should be logged and prioritized. I don't know how Caligari does it but I'm sure they have their own system setup to track bugs.
The flag for saving on exit is a known bug. (I think all the way back to 7.0) and still not fixed. Compared to other bugs this would be considered minor.
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2858&highlight=save+exit
I have said this before, they need some QA testers that have no clue how the App works to test the new software. They tend to do things no one else thought of. Experienced testers tend to focus on higher levels of testing and fail to focus on the basics.
Let me test the Beta testers right now:
DON"T LOOK AT YOUR WATCH......
Now answer this question (without looking at your watch)
Does it have Roman Numerals for numbers? Yes or No?
You look at something everyday but that doesn't mean you will catch the obvious. |

the shell seems to work fine here, so maybe you did something to get it mixed up..maybe closing/reopening truespace might clear that up..or if its really having issue replacing default.ctx with a backup[if you keep them] or the dreaded 'reset to default content'button.. |

Hi Stan,
the shell seems to work fine here, so maybe you did something to get it mixed up..I was just creating a shape with cylinder/ shell / radialslice, which after I had finished I did not like, so I deleted it, the functions for the cylider then did not work, and when they did, I had the above default.
maybe closing/reopening truespace might clear that up..or if its really having issue replacing default.ctx with a backup[if you keep them] or the dreaded 'reset to default content'button..I have only had the full version installed for 2 days, and as I have made no change to layout etc, I felt no need to make a backup at this point. I have attempted to reset to default, but it is still the same. If I get too annoyed with it, I will re-install. |

If you didn't make UI changes worth saving just delete the "default.ctx" file and restart trueSpace. A new default.ctx will be created and everything should be back to normal. Faster then reinstalling. |

If you right click the Cylinder tool in the toolbar, it's properties opens in the stack. You can right click the Thickness and select Reset. See capture. |

I have now found as to why I was having the problem with losing the interactive control during creation. It was because I had another object selected for editing.
Example:
In workspace (TS 7.51) create a plane, right click to accept, then right click to convert. Then create a cylinder, once placed it cannot be changed via the control panel, right click again to accept, you then find that both plane and cylinder are glued together. It is the same for any combination.
So possibly my fault?, or maybe TS should default to object when new object created? |

you must close edit mode or the new primitive becomes part of the last object [bool union]..that seems to be how they planned for it to work..
you can choose if you want a primitive to be object, sibling, or union on the primitive panel too, so a primitive can be grouped or union with the last selected primie..right click any primitive to acess panel before creating it.. |

Hi Stan,
I thought Workspace did not currently have booleans.
The only option I see for primitives on a right click are such as:-
EDIT: OK now found that, but as it is set to object, why does it glue the objects? |

where it says 'cube' next to the 'x' on the title bar of the panel in your image, click on 'cube' there is a droplist..choose default..you will find it there.
there are no real booleans yet..just with primmies |

I did edit my last post to say I had found that, and this is set to "Object".
Even in a case where for example I want a cylinder to be sibling or union, I would still expect to interactively change the cylinder when placed (before the right click to accept) |

I have come across another problem with this.
Basically, I was half way through a model, but then noticed it not fitting together correctly, on making some quick checks, I see that the cylinder when with shell the radial slice is incorrect.
I have made a quick image to show what I mean.
3 objects placed on top of each other (same center line) to show:
(blue) Cylinder rad 4
(red) cylinder rad 4 radial slice 180
(green) Cylinder rad 4 radial slice 180 shell 0.5
You can see that the green cylinder is not 180 deg. |
