need a little help, I upgraded to 7.51 from 5.2. I need a seperate viewport window, when iam in lets say perspective view, in version 5.2 I just click on the drop down list in the new views icons, and a small new viewport was opened, How do I that that in 7.51. Do you have to be in Model or workplce screen.

thanks

In tS6.6 and earlier, the only windows types were 3D views, so the icons for them were just for 3D views, and you didn't open just a 3D view, but a specific kind of 3D view (open small perspective view, open small top view, etc).

In tS7.5, a window can be all sorts of things (3D, Link Editor, Command, and more), so there are no specific icons for opening a new perspective view. Instead you just open a new window (a new 3D view in this case - though you can open any window type and then change its type once open), then swap it to any 3D view you like once it is open.

You can also then drag and dock the window wherever you like, and then save the layout so you can just get back to it right away. This is very handy, especially on dual monitor systems where you can have all sorts of useful layouts that tS6.6 would never have allowed!

HTH!
