There is a problem which occurs in Workspace and the cure (which I learned from Justin Barret's tutorials) is to go over to Model side and Add, then Delete Subdivision Layer. The problem can be seen in the lock of hair behind the ear in the upper photo and after the cure in the lower photo. The problem appears when "Add SS" is used in Workspace, but it only appears intermittently.

The cure is to save and then:

a) remove mirror plane

b) exit point-edit mode

c) switch to Model side

d) "Add Subdivision Layer"

e) "Delete Subdivision Layer"

f) switch back to Workspace

g) flatten mirror plane

h) re- "Mirror Model"

i) "Faceted Normals"

j) save again and get back to work

The icons for the buttons are the same on Workspace and on Model, the names are different, but the function seems the same.

My only question: is Caligari aware of this and (hopefully) working to fix it when they move everything over to Workspace? It is a real time-waster.

I have'nt actually done any sds yet, but I think caligari is likely aware, but you can always email them ;)

Y, we are aware of this and it is not bug (i know what you are now saying..) but: in workspace you can define SDS level per vertex. Which means that if you have some PE selection and change SDS level, only these vertices do change. If you remove SDS 2 times on a vertex and then add 2 layers outside PE, vertex will not be subdivided because it's level will be 0.

the idea is to allow better control of mesh subdivision but it is causing confusion and there will be tool to clear various sds properties in 7.6. (similar problem is with vertex weights or edges weights where you cannot reset them to default)

Thanks, tomasb. I will experiment with this next time it occurs. I am looking forward to 7.6.
