Hi, well this is my problem/question. I got the character modeling course tutorial for truespace when I bought TS7.51. However the character modeling video is for TS6.6 I think. Is there a more up to date video for character modeling for TS7.5 or am I'm just going to have to guess what tool is which?

TS7.51 still has model tab which is effectively TS6.6 so you COULD do the tut in that.

Failing that spend about an hour in the workspace and get a feel for the Icons and tools that HAVE been moved over from the model side. I suspect that most tools needed for the tut WILL have a counterpart in workspace. However if you find a tool needed for the tut that isn't on the workspace side(IE the new 7.51 interface), as long as you have bridge turned on just hit the model tab, and your work gets moved to the model(6.6) window. Use the tool as per tut in the model (TS6.6) tab, and then flick back to workspace tab, the edit will be transferred.

Bit inconvenient, but do-able until all the tools have been transferred to the workspace (IE eventual new interface) in future updates.

Hope that helps

My current workflow with characters is to build them and texture them in the model side - it just has more tools than workspace at the moment.

Once you've built your character move it over the bridge to workspace for the rigging and animating - workspace anim tools are far superior IMO to ts 6.6 or model side.

This will presumably change somewhat with the eventual release of tS 7.6 but is the best way to go at the moment - and allows you to follow the tutorial more closely.

Hope That Helps

I have learned a lot about TS 7.51 and character modeling on the Workspace side from Justin Barret's tutorials at

The one about the interface is free and worth a lot. The modeling tutorials for both head and body are very inexpensive. I recommend them highly.

You can follow the tutorial exactly in the Model side of tS7.51. You can use the Bridge to swap between Model and workspace side as required.

The workspace side has some improved tools that make point editing easier, and make SDS better too, and many are similar enough that you would be able to follow the process on the workspace - the worst part would probably be the icons being in a different place :)

There is not a character modeling video specifically for the workspace side tools at present, but the existing video covers the fundamentals, which remain the same in pretty much any modeling package you might use so should translate well to the workspace side (and of course will translate exactly to the Model side).

HTH!
