Here is the problem and I want to know how you would handle it. This is very very basic usage of tS yet I couldn't get it to work.

I have a shoe with SS applied. The shoe is a red satin texture which was originally applied to the entire shoe. I want the heal and sole to be a clear acrylic. If I use the scissors or split polygons, or even the copy next to Mirror the new clear acrylic texture is still applied to the entire shoe and not the selected pieces.

How should I do this. I ONLY want to use WorkSpace. What steps would you perform this and are you sure it works?...

I know I could copy the whole shoe and delete the parts and combine later but that is not how it should work.

Thanks in advance.

If you've scissored it already, use the down/ left/right arrow key to navigate down the hierarchy to select the sole/ heel.
Oh. Workspace? as a 6.6 user all I can say is good luck, buddy.

Unfortunately you can't.

Only way to put two materials on the same object is to select the faces in model side and apply the material there. Once it's been divided into two materials, you can change the materials on Workspace side without any problems.

I think with what your trying to do, it would be better to do the two parts of the shoe as different objects though, since it's not going to render the way you expect if part of it is opaque and part is transparent. Remember 3D objects are not solids, the rays from the clear part will bounce around up inside the opaque part and you'll basically end up looking up into the shoe as if it was made of a clear material with a layer of paint on the opaque parts.

Sometimes, and I mean that literally...

One can select the part of an object in Modeler in the Scene Editor, go to Workspace and the part is still selected.

Then you can apply the material you wish on the selected part.

Works for me 80 percent of the time. The other 20 percent, well I just spit and put a quarter in the curse jar. :D

With workspace not quite finished yet, I would just use the paint face tool to get the heel and sole to look like I wanted them to.
