Hi! I'm new to these forums, (although you'll find me over on the gameSpace forums, if you look.) I recently purchased tS in the November deal, where you got a bunch of free courses.

When I began the first course, I noticed immediately that my interface is not set up the same way, although it *is* set to the default configuration. This brings to mind two questions, (and I apologize if they've been answered elsewhere.)

1) Was the default interface changed after the tutorials were written? If so, it would've been nice if that had been mentioned somewhere. For a beginner, it's really confusing to start the very first tutorial and not be able to follow what's going on.

2) He mentions a "shut down" button, and shows a bar on the right-hand side. I seem to be missing that bar. (I've been shutting down via the file menu, or the "x" in the upper-right corner.) Can anyone tell me how to get that bar back please?

I also noticed that he tells you to open the clock scene, but I'm not finding one anywhere - not even in the resource pack that came with the course. Any information someone could give, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot! :jumpy:

Can i tellyou Most of the ts Courses are maded in 7.11 UI that's why looks diferent..

Im agree courses must be "Upgraded" to the new UI but basicly are the same..

Few changes:
Player Side has been renamed to Workspace (more pro name) :D
7.51 has a darker look

About the Shutdown button i think it was removed from default layout, but if you need it you can find it inside the library inside Buttons - System and there it is.... Shutdown.. White box with a red X

Hope that helps and welcome aboard Netjera

Yes the Shutdown caused more questions then it was worth. TrueSpace 7.51 shuts down like anyother program does now, just click on the "X"

On the bottom right of your layout you can click on the folder icon to bring up the different Libraries. Double click on the Scene-Active Library to load into the Stack. You will find the "Clock" there.

Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah, I noticed the "Player"/"Workspace" tab thing. I also noticed I have far fewer tabs than in the video, and mine are named: "4-View", "Default", "Floating" and "trueSpace 6". I can pretty much figure out what they do, but the guy in the tutorial has ten or eleven tabs all named differently. lol

I don't care so much about having the shutdown button, as I was concerned he'd start using tools in that sidebar and I wouldn't have any of them.

Thanks for the answers!

Oh excellent! I found it! :> Thanks a lot. Now, hopefully he'll teach us how to rearrange panels, and I'll be good to go. I just tried dragging and dropping the panel and it didn't work, lol.

Hi Netjera,

CTRL + LMB drag on the title bar of the panel you want to move will allow you to tear it away or dock it.

Also for examples of using 7.51 and the new Workspace side tools you can download the video I made for the telephone speed modeling challenge:
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=46509&postcount=36

Even better is Justin Barret's trueSpace video training courses that you can find here:

Hope that helps! And if you get stuck, feel free to post your problem here. More likely than not, someone here has probably run into the exact same stumbling block. ;)

Just chiming in to agree that Justin Barret's tutorials are the best I have found and made a world of difference for me.

The one on setting up the interface, tool bars, keyboard shortcuts, etc., made the whole program make sense for me. And that one is free!

The one on head modeling taught me how to handle all those tools confidently.

Justin's tutorials are priced way too low. They are a gold-mine of info.

Jack,

Thanks a lot for the tutorials, and the explanation of how to move the panels. Sometimes, it's the stupidest little things that trip us up. lol

I greatly appreciate all help, present and future! =)

Thanks for putting this back up. :> I really appreciate it.

I anticipate many hours of soaking in other people's wisdom (followed by many death threats as I whine about what I don't understand and pepper folks with questions.) :D

Thanks for the info, John. :) I always find that the most important thing is to listen to what other users are saying. They're the ones who've plowed the field before me, and they always know where the best information and tools lie. Thanks for sharing!

You might want to read and view all of the Videos in the Manual to before starting any of the older courses.
