Well I have had Truespace 7.51 for a bit and just now starting to get into the nittygritty of UV mapping & textureing, some of the tutorials such like tank girl I still find somewhat missitying is doing the coloring of Tankgirl. The programs that I am trying to export the bitmap files to is Photoshop CS3, the another tutorial says fireworks then another one says UV mapper then the 4th says dog waffle, (LOL), Ok I am sure there all good and do work, but were I am getting stuck is from Photoshop CS3, I am able to export a simple globe from truespace into photoshop but hear is the hang up, How do I add a complex pattern to the bitmap with painting that has a earth coloring. Or hear is anoterh approch, take tankgirl, with the mesh build up how you apply the color like a red/blue shirt or whatever onto a gray background from the export bitmap. Am I trying to make this more complated than it really is?

With Tankgirl you'd just need to save out her texture map file, edit it, save it, then reapply it to her material.

If you are making a custom UV map, then once you are finished laying out the UVs, you export the UV map as a bitmap. Load it into your paint program and put it on a layer so it will overlay your image and then paint your texture. Hide the UV template layer you created before saving out the new texture. Then pick a material that takes a color texture, load your new texture that fits the UV layout, and apply the material to your model.

It's easier than it sounds. :) Basically you just have to paint the texture, load it into a material and apply the material.
