OK... I got View 6 esprit and started playing with it.

DARN!! I can make all the trees I want, but cannot convert them to anything. They stay as .vob files only, and TS will not import .vob :(

OK - given that limitation, I decided on a nice composite. I was able to export the terrain I made.

I was able to make a nice enough picture of the file.. I guess.

Using TS to make the original picture, and Sqirlz Water Reflections as a post-processor, here is what I came up with.

Nice enough for using 3 programs?

Hi !

Found 2 ferns in the zip file

Fern 3 and Fern4 ........... I converted both into cob and 3ds

and obj. so here it is

You have to use the map and the alpha and the bump !

Included with this post is a fast Vray render so you can

see it works

By the way just a short hint !!!

The PLE version of Vue 6 inf is NOT export disabled

as far as I can remember ... so you should be able to make

tree species and export the meshes ... I think the textures are watermarked

but you would not have to use them.....

So try it and download it :D

Apart from that the terrains should work that way too !

VERY USEFULL FOR TRUESPACE ....

Actually, i wonder if I can upgrade form esprit to infinite... I think I have the $s for it.

Thank you very much for the hints though... I will see if I can download ple and use that.

And thank you very much for the objects!! I will also put them into the share thread in the Garage so other people can play too. :D

P.S. didn't know I put fern4 in there, but it makes a nice bonus for me!

oops! I keep getting an error trying to use the LUUV plugin:
10635

and this is what I get as a finished product:

10636

I tried creating the folder path that was asked for, but that didn't help

EDIT:
I was able to load it into TS6.6 and decompose it, but the mlb file is empty.

No problem, you've just discovered a hairstyle left over from the 1970's.

lol - I got it figured out and was able to use the .bmp files to re-texture the tree.

Having decomposed it in ts 6.6, I was able to then reposition, resize and rotate all or part of my tree. Very nice to be able to do that.

Here are the two pictures I got out of it. first one, I just added normal ripples, but the second one, I used tone-maping on the render to darken it and then added rain. Once again, I used Sqirlz Water Reflections to post-process my picture.

That tree looks normaly like that without the textures and the

clipping map (alpha). Thats why I included the maps for.

You just have to load those into the material editor !

Nice thing about it is that one tree can be used as another

once you change the textures !

Latest update... I think that that last one is as good as it's going to get, so I moved to the other side of my landscape and brought in a few more trees.

Don't look so good in LightWorks....

So I did a complete retexturing and put it into V-Ray

10744

The water is the hardest thing to get right for both of them, but marginally easier with v-ray using the frenzle shader.

I can't speak for Vray but using the LW ME I've been able to get some great water effects by using the mirror reflectance shader and a suitable watery bump map.

Check this thread for water: http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2231& (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=2231&highlight=ocean+water). My scene is for download.

I will try that out. I've been moving trees around the island, and have had a few crashes, so I hope I get things back so I can get a render I really like to put into the Monthly gallery. ;)

I cannot seem to re-create your bump map as well as you did it, but I did manage to get there.

I tried to render in LW, but the scene is such high-poly count that it will not render on the model side short of a 6 hour or more render. I stopped it after 3 hours.

Here is the same thing in Workspace using V-ray

10774

Now to turn on anti-alias so I can get a smoother picture :D

Double or triple the u-repts and v-repts of the bump map, the bump looks very big scaled in your picture. Depending on your waterplane size, you might use a repetition factor of 10 or 20 or even more.
