Hi .. thought I'd ask this here, since someone else just starting out may want to know the answer too.
I have Wacom tablet and pen (graphire4) and just assumed that it wasn't really compatible with trueSpace until recently when someone mentioned that yes there was a place to make the settings.
I can't remember where that was, and poking around have not found it.. could somebody please tell me where? This would be a huge help to me as I find the stylus less of a strain on my hand and wrist...
I'm using tS 7.51
... and thanks!!!! :D |

If you go to the Control Panel, there is an applet called "Wacom Tablet Properties" (You can also find it in the start menu.
I'm using an Intuos 3 tablet, so it may be a little different.
Did you know that you can have different settings for different software programs? Go to where it lists Applications and click on the little '+' on the right. Now click on the browse button and go to the TS exe location. Now that you found TS, it should show in the Application row. Click on the TS icon to select it. Now any changes that you make will be customized for TS and the wacom.
Choose the Pen icon in the Tool row. Now move the Tip feel slider all the way to the right for a firm feel and Tilt Sensitivity to the left or Normal.
That's all I did and the pen is just right-not too sensitive but still responsive.
I hope that's understandable. Just ask if you need more info.
Cheers |

When I first tried using my Intuos 3 with TS 751 it was WAY too sensitive and objects would suddenly be flung off the screen never to be seen again. Talk about feeling awkward!
Then Wicked Witch was good enough to post that tip that I gave you, and now Robert's your relative! :-) |

I gave up using my tablet for anything but 2D some time ago. I almost gave up on my Space Navigator too if it weren't for the truball.tsx I probably would. But why workspace does not support this amazing peripheral is beyond me...they are made for each other...:( |

:banana:Tablet with pen are almost necessary for making some types of selections while point editing, it's also nice for painting faces. While it can often be done with a mouse, the pen gives you very nice control. It helps if you can draw. :) |

Works as well as a mouse works. (In my experience anyway) .
What exactly doesn't work for you?
Of course it helps if you use a tablet and pen a lot so that you have the control...
YMMV, I guess. <shrug> |

I get the flying off to infinity thing and view spinning around if I go near the edge of the tablet. Makes it mostly unusable. :( |

@Improve.. Intuos is much better than graphire (same company different level of product. able to employ only one of the settings which helps a little.. sadly, not enough :(
@MadMouse .. yeah I'm real shaky in workspace.. still new territory :p
@Splinters.. I think the space navigator seems very cool ... wanted something that would allow me to avoid he 90deg rotation of wrist which gets very tiring
@hultek43 ... I know you've drawn extensively, with a mouse, and have a steady hand for welding and power tools,so a stylus in 6.6 wouldn't phase you ...
@jamesmc ROFL .. do I look like a real man? :D
@Jack ... yeah.. makes me giddy, although it does work at center screen..:p |

It might be because of the better control from the 1024 pressure levels vs 512 pressure levels for the Graphire. I know when I switched from a Graphire 4 to the Intuos 3 I immediately felt a more subtle level of control in Painter.
Hey use whatever works people, just don't use a Cintiq like James. Unless of course you're into blowing up expensive touch screen tablets!:banana::banana: |

Actually, I don't own a tablet of any kind was just being the dunderhead fool. :)
BTW, 1024 pressure levels is what is recommended for Zbrush. They state that 512 levels doesn't give enough sensitivity to control the strokes.
For using a pen like a mouse - dunno - don't have a pen. (snorts - and stops pulling legs for a few) |

@ Jamesmc- aww.. just keep on doing that... makes me smile ^_^
@ Improv- yeah, I know about those pressure levels .. I have Painter 9.5 (that's a joy!)
... Intuos is on my wish list, right up there with Painter 10 and trueSpace 7.6
(right up there above roof and plumbing repairs for my 38 year old (im)mobile home)
Now where did I put that lottery ticket?..or the Djinn bottle when I need it?) :D |
