Hi

Can someone please help me work out why my model is not working properly. I am following the nurbs car tutorial (http://www.caligari.com/Help/Tutorials/Casey_W_Frisbie/index.asp?Cate=HTutorials)

and the sides of my car seem to get inverted. Strangley its the front and roof of the car while I'm still working with the nurbs patches (which I also don't seem to have any vertices on - which is one problem) and then when I convert the nurbs patches to polygons the sides of my car seem inverted. (See photos please)

On the lack of vertices - I've tries the refine patch button but it on allows me to add rows to the sides not the front and roof.

On the invertion - I've worked back through the instructions and it turns out I have the invert edge box ticked when I created the roof but if this is unticked it twists up the surface. I was also wondering in the instructions when it says flip the copy of the side - I use mirror cos there's no flip option to make this work.

I've tried all sorts to fix this.I've have done the model from scratch 4 times now and I need help - Please.

Thanks

Sindy

Ps - I'm using Truespace 7.5

Firstly the tut was Copyright 2001. Version 7 wasn't out then ;-).

The icon he has pictured is available in version 6.6 to mirror the object.

As for adding points, you'll have to make sure you convert to a plain patch before trying to refine. Hope that helps.

Here are some NURB tools (http://home.mindspring.com/%7Eclintonr/MyTruespace/TSPlug.html) that may help.

Thanks for your help hultek43 and spacekdet.

Couple of questions :)

How do I access "convert NURBS object with construction history to plain patch"? It's not showing next to "convert nurbs patch to polyhedral" where I'd expect it. Do I need to use it at a certain point in the construction or use another tool to access it?

Do I just copy the plug-ins into \trueSpace75\tS\tsx to make them work and how do I access the tools?

Sorry if these questions are a bit noobish, I'm new to TS and working my way through the tuts.

Cheers

You drop the plugins to that directory as you say, then you click on the Add Plugin icon (looks like a plug going in to a wall socket). Then you select the tsx you want to load, and an icon for it is added to the toolbar. Clicking the icon activates the plugin (sometimes r clicking activates an options dialog, depends on the plugin and how the author wanted it to work).

HTH!

and heres the answer to your first question. you need to open the icon finder and the convert to plain patch is in there. i think the icon was misplaced in the last update.
Edit: and click the icon again to close the monster icon list
