Hi @all, :)

at first I have to say that I'm totally new to this program, so maybe I just do something wrong.

In the course, when it comes to create the image template, I first put the material on the plane. There's the first difference to the course video, cos I see large squares on the plane, not very small ones like in the video.

After that I pick up the material from the plane and put the fish picture from the link editor on the material. But this picture only appears on the material (like in the video), but not on the plane! Theres still only the material with the larger squares visible. I tried it several times, but no other result.

Any idea what's wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,

Uwe ;)

Hi Uwe,

I see what you mean. The course was done in 7.51 and the difference is because in 7.6 there were improvements made to both the UV mappings for the primitives and the Material Editor.

There are two solutions here:
1.) One is to set the "Edit picked material directly" check box on the Material Editor's Advanced tab.
2.) The other is to apply the material to the plane, by selecting the plane and then clicking the icon that looks like a paint funnel.

Let me know if that solves it for you. :)

Hi Jack,

many thanks for your fast help! :)

Both of your solutions work for me.

Thanks that fixes the problem. I've been stumped by this twice now, lucky I did a search for the problem :)

Maybe you could make this is a sticky somewhere as many new users will be doing this great course (thankyou very much!) and some will get stuck on this basic step and give up!
