I found the 7.5 material editor hard to work with, and I could never figure out how to use it. Now I find the 7.6 material editor even harder. I always liked using the material editor on the model side rather than the workspace side, because I found it much easier.

Could someone please help me with the following in TS7.6's material editor:

1. How do you get and apply UV maps?

2. How do you apply an alpha channel (black and white image) to materials?

3. Where can you find the different reflectance, bump, color, etc. materials like on the model side, except on the workspace side?

This was my experience with ME, it is still based on 7.5 ( 7.6 I'm just working on) but perhaps helps answering some of your questions

I've wondered the same thing... Do you have to have VRay to use the Material Editor on the Workspace side?

No Vray not required. If someone was to upload a scene that was created specifically for Vray engine, you would experience difficulty.

Is best to create your scene for specific render engine and use materials accordingly. Some materials will work but most will cause problems.

Workspace is also wysiwyg as far as shared spaces go, which is pretty cool :)
