When I right click and the Paramerters panel show, I try to enter a number in the box or I click on the arrowns nothing happens. I like to subdivide a abject.

not sure which ones you are trying to change - some of them will not change anything for a given primitive. The bottom right one with the "4" is how many sides your object has.
the two top left ones are how many extra edges you have and may be what you are looking for. Try clicking and dragging on the arrows under the numbers to see if that works for you.

Hit Enter key after inputting numbers, or as Kena said, click/drag on the arrows to change the parameters. It may help to switch to 'Draw objects as solid outline' to better see the edges.

Keep in mind that Workspace icons are only for Workspace and only the icons within the Model window work in Model side.
