I want to render from model space but after encapsulating some objects in workspace, they have disappeared from the model (ts6) side. Is there any way to unencapsulate with TS 7.6? I saw a tool someone came up with for 7.5, but I don't want to try it with 7.6 without knowing it will work and not mess something else up!

(Why you can't select multiple objects to move at once in TS76 without encapsulating them is a mystery to me! But if encapsulation is the only way to group objects, there oughta be a way to unencapsulate them..)

thanks

hi torg.

You can move multiple objects without encapsulating them.

Either from 3d space or LE, use Ctrl - LMB to select your objects. Now you can move them all, rotate as well. Scale too.

When done, just click one of the objects, the Object Selector tool (white arrow, lower left hand side), or any other tool.

Be sure to use Encapsulate In 3D which encapsulates the objects as geometry, rather than Encapsulate (without the 3D) which ignores the geometry and is more used for grouping scripting items together.

Also be sure the bridge is set to on or auto, if it is off then items on the workspace won't be moved to modeler.

If you use Encapsualte (not in 3D) by accident, I'd reload a scene before you encapsulated, or use the LE to go in to select items one by one and save them to a library to reload them separately, or use the community developed unencapsulate script.

HTH!

If you accidentallly "encapsulate" 3d objects w/out the 3d option, here's a trick i found to get them to show up in Modeler again:

In LE, Enter the encapsulted object, select all objects, then click the "Encapsulate in 3D" button, type the name, and the objects magically show up in modeler even though they are double-encapsulated.

Still believe encapsulated from 3d from the start is the best way to go, but there may be times when you want things double-encapsulated.
