Went from 5.2 to the free 7.6 - what a journey.

Tried to follow the manual when trying to take a bitmap and create a raised symbol on the top face of a cylinder.

"Working in Workspace".

ch3_ModelWorkspace.pdf

page 164 - 3.8.4 Painting with a Bitmap Brush

For the life of me I cannot get anything to work. The furthest I've got is sort of an indentation of the Caligari logo. Not all of it but only what looks to be part of a "c".

No posibility of resizing bitmap - not to mention rotating it.

Picture in manual seems to indicate that I should get an overlaying image so that I can see what I'm doing. I don't. Get the image or see what I'm trying to do.

Funny thing is that no matter how large a "face" I'm trying to influence I get the exact same indentation.

Am I clicking on the wrong icons or is it a fact that the manual and TS7.6 isn't syncronized? I used "the blue snake" as indicated in the manual.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Ayath. Oh yeah, it's quite a jump from 5.2 to 7.6.:)

I'm having some issues with the bitmap brush also. Have you tried checking the 'custom profile' box? See whether that helps.

I'm still not able to rotate the bitmap image but I can see it and size it with that box checked.

thanks for your answer.

That led me a bit further on the track.

I can see the image and holding down right mouse button I can resize it.

Holding down shift and right mouse button while moving the mouse around rotates the picture.

Now we are both one step further - Perhaps we shall prevail in the end.

AH HA HA HA HA

Think I've got it. Thank you Heidi for leading the way.

Create a cube.

Right click on the cube.

Choose face tool.

Click on top face.

Subdivide a number of times.

CLICK SOMEWHERE IN THE WORKSPACE (widget goes from the top)

Choose "blue snake" :p

Find your bitmap.

Resize it on the top (right mouse)

Hold down left mouse and drag a small distance (NOT A LOT)

I think the problem for me was that I always had a widget on the top face right there in the middle. And that was exactly where I wanted the logo.

Once the widget was gone it all fell into place.

Thanks again Heidi.

Awesome!... glad I could help. :)

You can hide the widget using the tab key. That will get it out of the way for you.
