Hola

I am starting a new frog. I love getting feedback, it helps me a lot, so I'll post a lot of stages of it. Here is the basic shape of the little fella. He is gonna be in an animated logo, he will carry the word frog into the scene, then the word 3d will drop down on him and he will squish up. Will be fun.

Looks like a fun project alright!

Here are things I would change or address at this early stage. The arms should be shorter, the frog needs knee caps, and don't forget the web feet. I can't believe I'm helping you with animal cruelty!:D

ribbit ribbit... .... squelch!

yikes! ... froggy, you are full of mischief... this is cute - and I like Steinie's suggestions.

Your frogs fingers sir. Would you like pepper?

More updates. I'm itching to bring him into 3d paint and sculpt him.

Kermit was right - it ain't easy being green!

This is looking good Frog. Simple clean and elegant. No beards, robes, glasses, wands or pointy hats required - makes me wonder if I chose the right call sign! And everybody likes frogs right? (Wizards on the other hand tend to come in both the Good and Evil varieties).

Have you decided which renderer to use for your animation or is it still too soon to know?

Thanks for the feedback.

I painted him in 3d brush but i could not get him to look like he looked in 3dbrush in ts. oh well.

Here is his latest incarnation.

No render engine decided yet.

I'm curious if you render the frog with vray will it match the look of 3dbrush?

(How do you like 3dbrush by the way, would it be useful for high polycount models too?)

Sorry to say this but after you added the hands the lenth of arm + hands just look too long. Unless you want the frog to have human characteristics. I also notice two small pointed areas at the top of the eyes, like two vertices got out of hand.

Dennis, nice modeling work. If and when we can use full avatars in Workspace or I should say shared-space. It would be cool if we where given the option to create our own avatar. This model of yours would make a great avatar for you. I am still not sure what I would make, if that is a possibility in the future.

Again, great work!!!!!:D

Now who am I ;)

Nice froggy, keep up the good work!

Very nice Dennis. I think what would be neat when you rig him set the default pose with his knees bent.

Looks nice Frog! :) I can't wait to see him rigged and animated. ;)

I'm curious, did you export a normal map from 3dbrush? If so, that might be why it's not rendering as good in Vray. At least if you're using GI. When you use GI you lose the effect of any bump or normal maps. If you want to render with Vray and GI, you might try exporting a displacement map from 3dbrush instead. Of course then you would need to apply SDS for the displacement map to have an effect. The poly count would be much higher due to there being actual displaced geometry, but GI would pick it up then.

I'm not sure if that's what was happening, but thought I'd mention it as an idea.

Btw, if you do have a normal map, I'd be interested in seeing what he looks like in realtime. :)

very nice frog and I like the texturing. I have to look into 3Dbrush.

Did you know 2008 has been proclaimed as the year of the frog? It is part of a campaign to preserve amphibian wildlife. Your great little frog forms a timely tribute.

Thanks. I totally forgot about workspace displacement. I tried it with vray here. Looks good. You can see I changed the bump map. The normal map doesnt look so good in real time :( as you can see. I tried everything i could think of to make it look good but couldnt get it.

I am probably gonna try to animate this logo animation in another app, if i can figure it out. There's some stuff I need for it that ts just doesnt have yet. I will rig and animate him in ts as well though. Rigging is just so easy in ts so I dont mind doing it two times for different apps.

Great frog site george. Thanks.

looks like you need to lower the specular or shinniness in the workspace view - still looks goo though.

Wow... the second render of those two looks great but I see what you mean.

I'd recommend messing around with Wilbur to get the right Normal Map created for use in the realtime view. Wilbur is free and very good at that.

I'm lovin' this frog, but somehow I'm thinking that the fingertips need to be rounder and a tad fatter than the fingers are.

Looks great though, should be fun to see it get squashed! Lol!:p

Hello.

Here is a froggy update. Rendered in lightworks. I have the same setup in another app too but truespace looks better.

Looks way cool bro'

Perhaps you can assemble clones or modifications of 3D froggies into an Amphibian Assault team and give them water rifles and splash grenades. :)
