After testing around with Truespace, the most frunstrating thing is the inaccuracy. So I better ask here before I accept it as a fact that the modeller is *insert curseword here*.

What I am talking about again? As you may have read before I love the Workspace, except for that there's no real rendering possible there.

So to get fullfeatured renders with refelections, i TRIED to work ihe modeller.

But each and every thing seems to be inaccurate there. My english is maybe too bad to describe what I mean, but I'll try it. If I navigate in any way, may it be rotaing or simply movinf into 3D space I have no exact reaction of the modellers widget. Oh, how to describe it: If I move into somewhere and I relese the mousebuton, the view still changes. It is as if I had a camera with a tons weight and if I want to stop it moving I have to break a lot because the camera is so heavy. Aww, if there's a german with a better english reading this, maybe he can translate it better.

There seems to be no accurate navigation possible in the Modeller. Is it a bug or a feature? Why can't I just move my mouse, for example to rotate an object and the movement stops when I release the mousebutton. Why is there allways something like a gaussian unsharpness efect on the movement, positioning or whatever in the modeller.

The whole modeller allways feels like a lead duck to navigate, Ah yes, no lame machine here. Core2Duo at 3.0 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, everythingquite up to date.

So is there a way to make the modeller act less clumsy?

Thanks

Sonny.

The modeler doesn't do that, when you release the mouse the movement will stop - so what you are experiencing is not something related to the modeler as such, but a problem arising from something.

Most likely my first guess would be graphics card issues. The Model side uses an old DX render engine.

Not sure what else might cause this "drift" when you stop moving, but it sounds like unresponsiveness. Right click on your icon top right in Model side for Direct 3D Solid Render Display, and see if you are using Direct 3D HAL (bottom option) or RGB Emulation. Also let us know if you are using D3D or OGL as the display mode, I've seen some folks say to change to OGL and not sure if that would have any strange effect.

Check there is no grid snap active if this is affecting object movement rather than camera navigation.

By the way you can easily work in the workspace, then just swap to the Model side to render. You don't need to model in the Model side to take advantage of its rendering :)

PS on accuracy, see CAD post with links to Griff Wason's work, who works with three decimal places of accuracy, back when the Model side was all that was available :) So accurate work is possible in the Model side if you really want to model there (though I suggest you don't and that you model workspace side, and just use Model side to render).

the lagging you experience is caused by the fact that DX is rendering content a few frames behind. If you have s lower card then this lagging becomes more visible because 2-3 frames at 20fps is .1s which is pretty visible.

Also make sure you are not in Fly mode for the navigation widget.

Right click on the white sphere at its center which will open some 3D icons. The one to the far left is either Walk or Fly. Fly will make the camera continue to move if you hold the mouse button down but stop moving (but it should still stop moving when you release the mouse button).

i had this exact problem until i switched the modeler to use OpenGL mode. directx mode was exactly as you describe.
