Every time I load up my scene I have to make a new library place if I need some thing from it. Some times I have to reset everything back to default just see more than a folder in the library browser. As this is just one of the bugs I have came across as I try out this program. Anyone know where can I go to see if there is a fix for this as well other bugs? |

Resetting to default context removes Library Places from the Library Browser. You'll have to re-add them.
Also be aware that a library place just makes all the sub directories of that folder accessible as libraries.
I'm not aware of any library bugs like what you've mentioned. Can you post a video or screen shot to illustrate? |

Also you have to save your Layout when you add Libraries to the Stack/Libraries from the Library Browser. |

I think I found some of what is my problem. In workspace when you click in the upper right corner under file. It has a save so when one clicks it you think it save your workspace. Wrong!! it just save the model you have to save your work space two times. One time in the corner for the model and again when you close TrueSpace save the scene as every thing is link to scene save and not the save button.:o |

Hi finder. You can use the File button to save either the currently selected object (RsObj), or the entire scene (RsScn).
In the Save dialog that opens, look at the bottom. There is a Save As type: dropdown dialog box.
To save the entire scene, select the Scene files (*.RsScn) option.

Hi all,
1. When you use the File -> Save option, you have to tell trueSpace what to save, since you could want to save many things. There is a drop down list that lets you pick. RsObj is object and saves just the currently selected object. RsScn is scene, and saves everything in your scene. You can also choose to save the context, the lighting, and more.
When using File -> Save, be sure to tell trueSpace what you want to save :)
2. Libraries can store anything and are the best way to save, it keeps things visible inside tS and easily accessible. A library will store one type of thing by default (eg maybe objects, maybe scenes, maybe lighting). If you right click and choose Insert, it will insert an object of the default type.
Safest thing though is to use Insert As. This then lets you specify what to save regardless of what the libraries default type is. So right click on a library and Insert As and then choose Scene and you save your scene.
3. The libraries you can see are stored as part of the Layout. You can choose which libraries are visible and which are not using the Library Browser. If a library is closed and you need it (like for Jack's course) just use the Library Browser and open that library.
Once you have the libraries open that you want to use, save your Layout to a Layout library (or use Insert As to save it with your other project scenes, objects etc).
You can close libraries in the stack so they aren't shown any more, using the small "X". You can re-open such libraries using the Library Browser.
Since the libraries are stored in the Layout, changing a layout will change what libraries are visible. When you change to Default, it opens the set of libraries stored under Default, and closes others. You don't need to do that to open particular libraries though, you can just use the Library Browser. This saves closing libraries you want left open, or opening libraries you want closed :)
4. A library is just a folder on your hard drive. Showing or closing the Library in the stack doesn't actually delete or create the library, it only changes whether that library is shown in the stack.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I will have to play with every thing all over again as I keep going back to default when I could not find the library I made and I would lose all but the model. As that was the only thing that was being save by the save.
Time to try to finish the fish and get on to uv and Animation
Again Thanks :) |

Going back to Default will close your library in the stack right enough, but it will still be on disk, if you made the library by using the Library Browser and then either Create Libary to add it to the tS defaults, or Create Library Place followed by Create Library to start up a whole new library place outside of the tS defaults.
Using either of those two ways to create the library, you just open the Library Browser, locate your library in the listing, and double click - this re-opens it in the stack.
For me, I make my own Library Place then store all my libraries under it. Then even if I reinstall tS, I don't risk the install overwriting my saved work (which could happen if you install to the tS library places). Whenever I reinstall tS (which was happening a lot in beta of course, every time a new version came out!) I just open my Library Place, and there are all my libraries.
The Library Place is just a folder on my hard drive, which also makes it easy for me to back up my work or copy my work to another machine (without having to move all the tS libraries with it). Very handy, my own Library Place :)

Alternate method:
Bypass the whole monkey business of Places/Spaces/WhatsisFaces and just use the File/Load/Save menu. Organize folders either beforehand or on the fly the way you want, and using standard file pickers you can sort by name, date, size, type, etc... something you're unable to do inside a tS Library window.
What's the point of saving a scene in an object library?
Go start mixing up the books at your local library and all you're liable to do is piss off the Librarian. |

Libraries now are really projects, so they have a default type they save to, but they are intended for a project with all sorts of file types.
I find that handy, I then save scenes, or objects, or layouts, etc, all for one project in one place :)

Would be nice to have some Bitsize videos in with regards to the Library Browser. :)
I too hope that there will be some type of searching, filtering and sorting. |

If it's a bug (or you suspect it is), I'd post to the bug forums under its own thread.
