While I was watching the tutorials I ran across some of the materials that I need and do not have. I do not know whether it is because I did not purchase this program which has the free downloads, or that I am missing a portion that needs to be downloaded. Because of the missing data I am having trouble understanding the drawing intro tutorial. Can someone please help me out? |

hehe you are not a slow learner, they are slow teachers. what material are you missing? all needed materials should have been with the files you downloaded. |

I don't know if I was missing things or if I am just not understanding it. But let me see if I can word this right. I was watching the Drawing Intro tutorial. It was show how to do the fish. I was trying to understand the new library. Maybe I was just not understanding it. If I am right it is the fish from the tutorial. That it shows he draws to us. It says it is included. But I just can't seem to find what he is talking about. |

Did you download the 'Resources' file? Everything should be there - check here

Note that downloading the resources and extracting them will not make the items show up automatically in trueSpace.
You'll need to load any libraries via the Library Browser in order to see them in tS on the right hand side, then you'll have access to the scenes and models from the video.
The fish image you can either find on the hard drive to open in a 2D application, or load into a material to use inside trueSpace.

I guess I really don't understand. I am trying to follow it step for step put it does not come up the way that it shows. Is there a way someone can show me with a remote access. To help me understand. |

Let someone know what step you are stuck on, and you'll get great help here :) You can specify what video, and what point in time on the video (eg Organics Modeling in workspace course, video two, 2 minutes and 34 seconds).

did you do a search for "Chapter 1"?
on my pc, it is located at "OrganicModeling1\Organics Course\Libraries"
It's been a bit over a month since I downloaded the course but I think I remember creating the folder OrganicModeling1 and unzipping the course to there.
When you create a new library place, you then browse to the "Libraries" folder and create the library place from that. all the chapters should then be in your new library place.
EDIT: looks like all three of us were posting at the same time - glad you found it!! |

Hi GhostRider, you're hard drive folders are going to be different than mine, so you need to know where you have extracted the resource files to on your hard drive so that you can find them when looking for the folder to add as a new Library place.
If you can't figure out how to set up a "new library place", you can drag and drop the image and material files directly into the Link Editor from Windows Explorer. You can save and load scenes from the File menu.
Edit: Great news! Let us know if you have any other problems! :) |

When you extract the zipped resources file for the course 'WSOrganicsResources.zip' a folder is created called 'Organics Course'. In that folder there's an image file and a folder called 'Libraries'.
In the video, CH1.2_New_Library_Place.wmv, Jack shows you how to create a new Library Place in Truespace. When you follow the instructions in that video you want to use the dialog browser button to browse to the location of the 'Libraries' folder that you extracted from the zipped resources file. That 'Libraries' folder then show up in the TS Library browser as 'Organics Course' with the chapter libraries listed. You can then double-click on the 'Chapter 1' library and it will open in the library tab of the right panel in Truespace.
Does that help? |

Ok I have that part done. But now in chap1.3 4.08 time of vid. It tells me to slide the pic up to the constect texture thumbnail. As I do so it slide behind it and will not let me put it on the spot that it wants me to. |

Ah... hold down your control key then left-click and drag the title bar of the bitmap object in the Link Editor onto the existing image in the Material Editor.
If you click your mouse button before holding down the control key, you're right... it will slide behind. |

You need to hold down the Control key on your keyboard then click drag on the title bar of the bitmap object in the Link Editor to drag it to the constant texture material in the panel.
Also be aware that there is a change in 7.6 that makes it so that you have to paint the material on the plane before it will show up. |

TrueSpace puts the material selected into the Material Editor on the next created object. So you will likely want to drag a solid color material onto your fish object when you start to create that. |

I've got version 7.6, how exactly do I get the image onto the plane? I followed the tutorial but it doesn't work like that, is it different for 7.6? I saw that an earlier version was used.
Is that earlier version still available? |

Follow the instructions in CH1.3_Image_Template.wmv up to the point where you have the fish image in the Material editor. After you control left-button drag the bitmap from the Link Editor onto the material, select your plane as the active object in the workspace then click on the funnel icon in the material editor to apply the material with the fish image to the plane.
From there the video will give in struction on how to UVMap the plane so that there is only a single image of the fish. You may not need to do that with this version of TrueSpace. :) |
