I'm stuck with my current projects since I can't break the wall of character animations due to in appropriate plugins for Truespace. Well that's elsewhere. Here now, I'm beginning/continuing with my other projects that didn't need anything with legs.

So I'm dusting off my RAH-66 Comanche helicopter from my other project but I'm dropping the stealth pods and will replace them with actual EFAMS instead. The chopper will also be retextured.

Here's my first ever video after creating the chopper (Yes the lack of dust and any other particle effects is intentional. I'll get back to them later.):

Thanx kena.
2 questions everyone:
- Is there support for reflectivity maps in TS 5.2?
- Is the audio feature that was in TS 3.2 still there bcuz I can't find it.

Well, I stopped the animation tests to finish the textures and modelling of the comanche. Now it's done:
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8351/rah664gv5.th.jpg (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rah664gv5.jpg)http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/7199/rah663kc5.th.jpg (http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rah663kc5.jpg)http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8559/rah662fe6.th.jpg (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rah662fe6.jpg)http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6386/rah661cp9.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rah661cp9.jpg)

Even gave it a bump map:
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/2966/rah665nh6.th.jpg (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rah665nh6.jpg)

Now I can start messing about with the animation for it. While doing that I'll redo my F-22 and create a MiG 1.44 for the proof of concept video for this video :P

Maclaren F1 bumped and textured (almost). It's the target for the vid.

Also a short vid showing off the bump map.

Question, which of the two styles below is better? 2 dbl stripes or 1 pair o' stripes:

Wow! Nice work!

I like the idea of doing the stripes asymetrically, but I think they need to be slightly more toward the center if you're only going to do one set.

For this post, the section of the project is bold and issues (as in stuff I really need assistance on) in italics. In anycase comment where u feel.

Comanche movement tests

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/Terraris7/th_test1advmvmt1.jpg (http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/Terraris7/?action=view&current=test1advmvmt1.flv)

Youtube link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBVuqGIbfV0

Issues

-I can't get the cannon to "look at" the cube properly.

-Don't worry about the sparks on the cube, they're a test for bullet impact on targets

McLaren basic movement test

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/Terraris7/th_1-2.jpg (http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/Terraris7/?action=view&current=1-2.flv)

Youtube link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2_Td1-jFQI

Issues

-I used exactly the same light settings as the Comanche test but, as u can see, no shadows on the tarmac.

-After I asking opinions on the stripes, I ended up with a dead heat so I left it as it was on my last save.

EDIT

I just found out something. The shadows appear when the tarmac is small (30 truespace meters), but when it's huge like it was in the video (approx 500m for the two stitched together) it resulted in the lack of shadows.

Nice work on this B_soldier. Interesting idea. I would say in this specific environment...the chopper would 'lose' it before the McLaren :-)

Thanx but what book?

Jack Edwards

Dun worry, it's exactly why I made it

Dragneye

Really? I thought the F1 would spin out b4 the chopper if this was in real life that doesn't mean it'd have won bcuz the chopper could understeer into an office.

Looks cool..just one question. Is Terrorist supposed to be spelled Terrarist? Is this a play on words somehow?

"Terra" means "Earth" in latin, so "Terrarist" is my own invention for saying "Earth based,dweller,..."
It was originally from a scifi book I planned, and I kept it.

Yes, that's my point; the chopper would have a harder time missing a wall due to tight environment and the effects of air turbulence created by the city street 'air tunnels', than the car would. All the car would have to do is keep turning down different streets, never leaving a missile the chance to zone in, and the driver just bettin on the odds. Barring traffic, the driver only has to worry abt nicking a sidewalk, or, dead end streets. Since I know the NYC streets quite well, I'd take on the chopper any day. Umm, but we'd have to start in Wall Street area or the Village; Midtown... too many long blocks. I lose. :D

I really enjoyed your movie. I thought the camera angles and movements were terrific and I love the way you animated the McLaren F1 sliding around the corners. Looking forward to seeing your next project.
