I accidentally deleted a Workspace icon.
Where are the spares kept?
In Model you can drag them out of the Megatoolbar that pops up when you toggle the Icon Finder.
What's/where's the Workspace equivalent? |

Not really, since the icon was already in a custom toolbar.
I don't know what toolbar the missing icon started in, so I'm not sure which one to even reset.
I just need one icon, not a whole duplicate toolbar. |

Open Library Browser.
Here have a look for the Buttons libraries.
Open the library you need. Like the Buttons-View Tools.
It will open in the Library tab in the stack. Find your button you want back.
Now the tricky part. Because you may notice that you cannot directly drop the button onto your toolbar.
Open an LE window. Doesn't matter in which instance you are.
Drag n drop your button into the LE instance.
From there it is dragable into the toolbar, so drag the button brick onto your Toolbar.
Last steps is to delete the button brick from the LE and close the Button library. |

I picked the wrong one. (To try 'Reset' on)
Seeking to undo the damage, I reloaded a previously saved Layout.
Denied!
It loaded up with the now reset toolbar in place, even tho I didn't explicitly save the Layout.
This is counter-intuitive behavior.
What's the point of saving a Layout if it gets overridden anyway with unwanted changes?
Update: Thanks Tiles, but I'm already out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Wish I'd waited because it sounds like you just gave me the solution I was looking for.
I'm hoping someday to quit battling this interface and actually, you know, "render somthin" |

I don't think the button Libraries are complete.
I dare you to find the Distance Feedback icon in there.
When an icon just disappears into thin air during the act of moving it from one toolbar to another...where does it go?
( See Also: Tree Falling; Forest; Lack of Observer)
This may be more of a metaphysical or philosophical question because I can't find it anywhere!
EDIT; In case anyone is keeping score, I finally got my toolbars /layout set up the way I like...and yes, it actually took me this long. Yay!
But during the final flurry of icon re-jiggery, the distance feedback icon slipped through the membranes of time and space and was dragged and dropped into oblivion. (The little blue line showed up where I was dropping it but when I went to check.... it was neither where I had dragged it from nor where I had dropped it at. )

I've found some icons and dialog boxes on my desktop when I get some memory bleed through. (they are not really there though)
It's after a day of intensive graphics and I need to reset the computer. |
