I made a simple cube. Right clicked to point edit the thing, and I can select the verticies with the window select tool, but no widget comes up to move them around. That's kinda an important thing. First thought is the TAB key switches widgets on and off in Point Edit mode, as sometimes the widget is in the way. Enter PE and press TAB, see if they come back :) There is a setting in the stack too for widgets, that would be my second thought. HTH!
