Quoted from BrotherX : "If it wasn't needed after installation, why put it there ?"

Maybe you should read what Splinters and I said again (thoroughly). If you have problems with your computer, it has nothing to do with turning on or off your System Restore points. As far as your employees having the authority to change how you want your computer base to run, that is giving them too much power.
Everyone is different (and some are set in their ways, leaving no room for growth and improvement). I'm just sharing what works for me !;)

Well, doing the thing with the circle seems to have helped. We'll see how long it lasts. I did turn off automatic updating; I have it set to the computer telling me the updates are available, and I download the ones that I want. *crosses fingers* let's hope it works for a while.

You're on your way !!!
I've also found that checking all of Vista's "Recommended" boxes are not the best option for your computer......just as not choosing your updates is. It is through these issues that new users to Vista experience so many problems. It is not Vista that has the problem as much as it is the the lack of user knowledge with running Vista and completely understanding your computer as to what it likes and what it doesn't like. Like everything else, it is a learning process.......and once you finally understand, you'll know how to address confrontations.......
...and pretty soon...NO MORE COMPLICATIONS !!!
