nice frank, that looks great. what did you have the displacement set to really? i'm assuming the 'ramped up to 11' line is a spinal tap tribute.
Thanks!
Ahh...sorry! Actually I meant to say ".11" there. |

lol, thanks frank, i love the stylized backgrounds you put in these. Have you animated any of them? you seem to be buildingyour own little world here. |

Thanks again!
I'm still trying to pin down a style for certain elements - specifically trees - and other props. I wind up either making a model "too simple" (image mapped on a flat plane) or then start modeling it with depth and as I work through the process it becomes "too-modern-3D", and doesn't match the characters.
I think the flat trees are fine for backgrounds, but I have some shots in mind where I would like the camera to move through wooded areas, showing the trees as having depth and dimension to them. Finding the happy medium is what I'm after now.
Glancing back at those earlier 2D trees, I started wondering how they would look with the exact same texture, but with 3D primitives for the trunk and branches, and the leafy part being the pencil texture mapped onto a semi-transparent cone. Same profile shape, but it would be "puffy" and not flat. An idea I might try.
I do appreciate the feedback! |

Great work again Frank! You definitely have the artist's touch. I hope Simon has contacted you about featuring your work on his Dribble page. You're really making dribble (and 3delight) shine. ;) |

Thanks a lot, Jack! Your positive feedback is really appreciated!
Seriously, it's great to get such nice comments on this forum.
I'd sure like to hear from ol' Simon. He's welcome to use any of my stuff, if he likes it (although I mostly do "bits and pieces"... not really completed works). |

I hoped Simon would expand the gallery to user work. I did offer him some test renders, after all , who could resist molten lava and rice pudding..:D
Still, he seems happy with his own examples on there. He has been quiet recently, hope all is OK with him...:o |

Yeah, if I ever get chance to sit down and work, I'd love to add everyone's stuff to the gallery :)
Sorry I've been quiet, basically right now I'm preparing to move, looking for work, and being daddy. So while I have PC time, I don't really have any work time until the kids have gone to bed, and then I can barely focus on anything. Experience has taught me not to code in that state ;)
Hopefully that will change soon and I can give you guys some more toys to play with. |

Sounds very much like my life Simon. When I finally get a break each day (usually late evening) I am too tired to work productively.
Still, that doesn't seem to stop me working til 2am most nights....:o
Well, I do have a lot to do.... |
