hi Wizard:

Was talking to Spacekdet in IRC and he brought up your HM pic of December. I had seen it of course, but never really looked at the background image all that closely.

I know that you live in New Zealand but I swear that you've snuck over to my house near Seattle and snapped a shot of my backyard. The resemblance is remarkable. Unfortunately, I can't find the exact pic to show you, but this one gives you an idea of my view. Trees, valley, mountains and fog. Its great for inspiration.

see ya

Hi Gene

While the weather wasn't the best at the time, I took the background image from a view point high on Banks Peninsula which offers really spectacular views that reach halfway across the country - my photo doesn't do it justice really but the cloudscape gives it a nice ambience (I hope!).

I guess New Zealand is lucky to have many different landscapes - when I was in Northern Thailand I kept thinking it looked like areas of NZ (only warmer) - ditto when I was in central Wales which looks like the West Coast of the South Island (only colder!). I have heard that the US Pacific Northwest has lots of similarities to here - specially with regard to the orographic rainfall:eek: .

I have a few email buddies in the Seattle and Portland areas (linked to other hobby activities of mine ;) )

You are lucky (or very well organised :D ) to have such a great view. The Chinese science of Feng Shui says the best energy flows when there is water on the sunny side and mountains behind - I just know that I love a good view!

I have always been interested in photography too (which I hope helps with my trueSpace work) and NZ has plenty of great scenery - much like the Pacific Northwest - sea on one side, mountains on the other.

Heres a quick pic to give you a better perspective.

BTW it's nice to know folk are talking about my work - I'm assuming you and Spacekadet were saying nice things !:o
